I'm looking to buy a domain name or two but don't need it hosting just yet.  Anyone recommend how I can get the domian name without having to agree a hosting package first i.e companies that get a personal recommendation.

First off I just want the domain and then maybe some hosting in a few months time.

Thanks

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

domaincity.co.uk is who I use after making the mistake of using UK2 early on :blushes:

Stryker recommended me to them, they allow DNS management so that you can arrange your hosting separately :D

Talk to Stryker about hosting......

Well just to go against the grain I do use UK2.net and have had no probs at all (I have 4 domains with them)

But they don't allow DNS management unless you pay an extra £40 pa.  It's free with domaincity.  I used to use UK2 for my domains, then I found out why I should move......

If all you want is emailing forwarding to a single address then fine, use UK2.  But if you want anything extra...... $$$

One final test:
Try to talk to someone at UK2 if you have a problem.  You can't.
Try to talk to someone at domaincity - their phone number is on the website and they anwser it promptly - and they know Stryker (I haven't worked out if this is good or bad yet!).

Ta very much.

My mate is starting up a business over the next few months and as soon as he has registered the company with Companies House then I'm supposed to grab the domain name quick. In the new year he will be looking for some basic web and e-mail hosting.

I was going to suggest Stryker and Dogmeat's Co, but he's a mate and I don't want him associating with drunks  :(

Stryker

let me make this real simple...... use domaincity or I'll break your legs.  The fact domaincity is a technology partner of crosswired ltd has nothing to do with it  :D
