This is mainly for Lion and other people coordinating the LAN's benefit.

  • Spare IDE cables (one floppy and one HDD)
  • Blank DVD media for OS'es etc
  • Spare mouse
  • Spare keyboard
  • PC tool kit
  • 2 spare SATA HDD's in case other people go pop at the LAN (plus a USB SATA HDD dock).
  • DVD of WINDOWS 7 x64
  • KNOPPIX LIVE CD
  • Assortment of screws
  • Spare DVI monitor cable
  • Spare power cable (kettle lead)
  • Volt meter
  • 2 spare case fans + assortment of power converter connectors.

Liberator

We tend to lose HDD's, PSU's and GFX, home built PC's don't like moving too far and the state of a lot of the roads means they get a bit of a kicking.

I'll have my trusty old IDE/SATA to USB kit, as well as a spare headset and mouse, the headset saw use last LAN when someone's failed.

Don't think I'll bother bringing the old RJ45 crimping set, we have plenty of cables and other people that bring them.

At least with Sheepy around we know who's will blow.

Tutonic

If you're really worried, you can always take the hard drive(s) out of your PC and stick it in something covered in bubble wrap and just pop them back in when you get to the LAN.

If everything is screwed in nice and tight you'll be unlucky to get any issues, but it does happen.

So, please, backup your system before travelling.
