Hello dMw,

For you considerations, I submit my application to join you all in SWToR : -

You
Can you and will you speak actively with other guild members on Teamspeak and in guild chat?
I would consider this a must for online gaming nowadays. Talking > Typing. Even though I've got two pairs of perfectly decent headsets, I'm looking for a new 5.1 headset for when this game is launched. If anyone can recommend a pair, let me know.

Who are you? Where are you from? How old are you? What kind of work do you do? Tell us a bit about yourself!
My name is Chris, I'm 38 and from Worcester in the UK. I work for a software house that provides systems for the British Insurance market...........That's right, possibly two of the dullest professions combined. If you're having trouble sleeping, ask me about what I do and I'll soon have you nodding off.

Do you have a stable internet connection?
Yes, very. I'm almost on top of the local exchange. They've been fitting fibre in the surrounding area over the past few months, so I'll hopefully be upgrading to that soon.

How long have you been playing computer games and what kind?
I've been playing games since around the time of the BBC Micro, c64 & Spectrum 48k. For a while, I probably bought just about every console going including a CD-i, a 3DO and an Atari Jaguar. I've been a PC convert for about 12 years (around 6 or 7 online) and have slowly rid myself of the console habit. I do have a PS3, but that is used mainly for watching dvd and blu-rays.

For the past year or so, I've been having a bit of a sabbatical from gaming; well, apart from playing a the occasional game of Dawn of War and the odd 'quick' go on Football Manager.

When ToR releases, I fully intend to dedicate the majority of my available game time to it.

What kind of raiding experience do you have?
Ok, an admission first. I've never played WoW. Subscription figures prove it must be a good MMO, but I've never been remotely tempted to try it. So that just leaves me with running everything that SWG (4 years) and WAR (2 years) had to offer. I haven't played any other MMO worth mentioning and nothing this past year.

What other guilds have you been in and why did you decide or were forced to move on?
SWG - As this was my first MMO, it was a long time before I left my first guild, but dwindling numbers eventually forced my hand. After that, I became a bit of a wandering soul. Slowly passing through a handful of the larger guilds on the server.

WAR - For a while, a group of us at work had our own small guild. We decided to disband it and join a larger guild following a round of forced server transfers. A couple of us joined a guild called Radiant Knights for while, but decided to leave and re-roll destruction when we found other friends on another server. And I think they were called Ancient Shadows.

What are your plans for the game?
I'm already buzzing about this game. I can't wait to get started (CE pre-ordered and registered a long time ago) and I'm planning on sticking around for quite some time.

For a month or so after launch, I'll be going on a fairly hardcore regime. If I'm not eating, sleeping, working or partaking in drunken merriment over the festive period, I'm going to be playing and exploring every aspect of this game. Questing, Raiding, Crafting, PvP and whatever else Bioware want to throw my way. Once I'm over my initial excitement, I expect I'll calm down to a more casual/moderate pace.

Ideally, I'd like to achieve all this with a group of like minded people (although, understandably, they may not be as quite keen as I am). Like my time in SWG, I think I'm going to be a bit of a completionist.

Your character
Why did you decide to play this class?
Currently undecided. At launch, my plan is to play every class upto advance class selection and then decide which I prefer. I've usually rolled RDPS or the occaisonal Healer, but I do fancy brining the pain up close and personal this time. The lure of the lightsaber is too great.

What do you think your class' role is in raid content?
To be decided

Comment on your build. Why did you choose it?
To be decided

This guild
What do you look for in a guild?
I prefer a small to medium sized, mature guild that puts emphasis into Community and Co-operation. A guild that understands that real life comes first and that drama is left at the login screen. Most of all, I'm looking for somewhere I feel I can make a contribution and have fun doing it.

''Dead Men Walking'' - What comes to mind when you see that guild name?
I presume it's a play on the singular term that originates from the words guards supposedly called out to clear the way as they accompanied death row inmates on their final journey and not the cheesy film.

In which case, I'd say it could be a warning to inform people to stay out of your way has you have nothing left to lose and getting too close will end up with someone getting hurt.

Or, the faces of tired and battle weary soldiers returning to the front. They know that they are about chance with death again, but have a courage, determination and cause that means they will never give up the fight.

There are other guilds on the server, why did you apply to us?
A few of us had been talking to a work colleague about his time at the Game event in Birmingham and his opinion of what the game was like to play as the Jedi Knight.  A couple of us mentioned we were going Imperial and were in the process of checking guilds out when we were handed your guild card with the fancy data matrix on.

Who do you know in Dead Men Walking? How do you know them?
I believe you all know him as Sneaky's bro' or as I've been recently informed, TriposAddict. We work for the same company and over the years we've often swapped stories and chatted about gaming in general; however, until now, we've never seemed to have played the same games.

Have you read our 'what we look for' and 'philosophy' posts? What do you think of them?
Yeah, all seems pretty much straight forward and common sense. Does the philosophy post cut off a little a little early?

Annoying questions
A guildie says something you find offensive, what do you do?
It would depend on how offensive it was. I've got pretty broad shoulders and it would take quite a bit to really bother me; however, if I considered something a serious enough matter involving completely unnecessary or inappropriate behaviour, I would raise any issues or concerns I had with guild officers to handle.

Cake or Pie?
Personal choice.............Meat Pie > Cake > Fruit Pie

Styx

Thanks for your application and we like to invite you in to the community.  As you can guess the raid part of the game is where we are heading and we will release more plans as we closer to that area.

So what if you could click on the link below and apply on the Bioware site, and put your name down we will get you all sorted mate.

More info will be put as we get it. Also check out the other games we play while we wait for SWTOR to release.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I'll take a look at what you're playing and see which takes my fancy.......probably one of the free ones

The Bioware site is down at the moment so I'll apply on there later. For reference, my SWTOR forum handle is Koiba.

DrunkenZombiee

Welcome Styx.

BSG Online might be a good bet for a free MMO that is played in the community. The same can be said about World of Tanks.

As for 5.1 headsets, I have a Xtatic Sharkoon which I am fairly happy with (it has a few clipping issues when paired with some sound-cards at high volume on the PC, butthis is easily fixed by using the windows volume control and using the built in amp in the headphones). Its really designed for use with an XBOX and has integrated voice functionality and and 5.1 dolby decoder with you will be able to use with your PS3 but it works well with a PC too as it has the 4 jacks for the 5.1 channels and Mic.

Other headsets I would recommend are the Tritton AX Pro and turtlebeach 5.1 variants.

Hope this helps.

Thanks DZ.

I'll get signed up to both by the weekend and see what tickles my fancy.

As for the headset, I recently upgraded to a Razer Naga mouse and have been really impressed by the quality. This got me thinking of going for a Razer headset, but they're quite pricey. Recently tho', a few people have been recommending Turtle Beach. I was thinking of going for these.
