Sound cuts off in Windows 2000/XP

If you are experiencing sound cuts off or other sound problems in Windows 2000/XP and your motherboard uses an AMD of VIA chipset then try using the Aureal Vortex 2 Sound Cutoff Fix at Aureal and Quantex Help Site

No Aureal control panel with default Vortex 2 WDM drivers in Windows 2000/XP
For Windows 2000 try using the Vortex 2 Windows 2000 beta reference drivers
For Windows XP try using the control panel at Aureal and Quantex Help Site

No SP/DIF support with default Vortex 2 WDM drivers in Windows 2000/XP
Try using the control panel at Aureal and Quantex Help Site

No 4 speaker support with default Vortex 2 WDM drivers in Windows XP
Try using the control panel at Aureal and Quantex Help Site
Or:
Download AC97 Mixer from Alex Mina's Home Page
Unpack file and run AC97 Mixer
Choose Options menu and Model Specific
Change 2/4 mode from 4 channels > 4 speakers to 2 channels > 4 speakers
But the change has to be made after every reboot of Windows XP!
(Solution found by Pavel Voronov)

Low volume with the default Vortex 2 WDM drivers in Windows 2000/XP
Open the Voume Control, open the Options menu, select Properties, select Other, select AC97 Controls, choose OK and change volume of Front/Rear to maximum (If using 2 speakers or headphones) or middle (If using 4 speakers).

Aureal A3D demos won't work in Windows 2000/XP
Only the Aureal A3D 3.0 demos work under Windows 2000 and XP, earlier version of the Aureal A3D demos won't work.
