What need I upgrade?

My current: E8400, WIN7 (32), 4GB (actually 3.5, naturally...), ATI 4890.
Since the last update to BF3, I can only play MP on LOW specs, otherwise it crashes. I can play COOP on the specs it automatically suggested, some HIGH some MED. The problem is only in MP.
So, the question is, whether an upgrade to 6870 is expected to solve this, or need I buy a new system, with i5.

What do you exeprts think?

You could probably get away with just a graphics card upgrade.

You won't get the maximum benefit from your new graphics card using an old CPU, but if you can only upgrade one component right now then a new GPU should give you a boost.

Tbh the 6870 isnt a very impressive card...
You running more then two monitors? if not buy a 560Ti incredible bang for the buck, but a few members have issues with their nVIDIA cards and bf3, but not all
