Having downloaded the the game by redeeming my product code, I get the following message when I run the launcher:
"There is currently no active subscription on this account.  To activate your account click here'.
So I click here and get to a page which says nothing about subscriptions or activating accounts.
So I go to my Account page but the 'Redeem a Product Registration Code' box is showing as not yet done.
I try to redeem the code again and it says 'you have already redeemed this code'.
I set up the subscription but it says I cannot until you have redeemed a product code.

I check under 'Games' and the product code shows as redeemed.  What the....?

Although you have redeemed a pre-order code, it doesn't count as an active subscription until you get the Early Access mail over the next few days telling you when you can start playing.
Yes, they could have worded it a little better. I could point you to the forum thread over @ swtor.com, but the forums have been wiped and won't be back for another 15 mins at least.

As a server and applications developer I whole heartedly agree with you :D

TL, the message you get "There is currently no active subscription on this account.  To activate your account click here'."
You are supposed to get that message, nothing wrong with that. Since the subscription part isent even available for SWTOR, it will be available mid early-access.

I am currently in love with the "waiting room" message. I like how it just loops over and over 30 seconds turns into a hour like magic! :D

Yes, the estimate is a little off :)

This is something I have yet to experience.  I assume you get this once SWTOR deign to grant you the promised early access? (I've not even had the email yet)

This was only to allow access to their site just so I could check my details. I still need the code which I've yet to receive. I did have a email from play.com last night saying the game was posted, so hopefully it will arrive either today or tomorrow. Still rather annoyed with their lack of communication regarding this...

Yep this was the Web site, nothing to do with logging into an account. Sort of scary to think that SWTOR are having problems just serving a web site to people. This is why I'll probably wait a week before even trying to install and log in. I've had far too much pain as an early adopter of WOW, Warhammer, LotRO, Rift (which actually didn't have any issues during launch), etc etc. so I'll excercise some patience if I can and join up after Xmas.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

All I did was boot up the client and then it said play once I done the loops above, and jumped through the hoops and such.  I really suggest booting up the client and trying it.

To add to the thread of woe.....

Game arrived from Santa yesterday. Installed it today but sadly the final downloaded patch failed. Ran the repair and it seems to want to download 11 gig of data. Uninstalled and am running chkdsk and Windows memory diagnostics etc. Will then re-install and try again....... Brings back memories of the early days of WOW and endless pain with failed patches and an unplayable game. I thought we were supposed to get better at these things not endlessly repeat the same mistakes. Hey Ho. What does bug me is that this is my free game time that's being wasted. The free trial really should begin with the first successful log in, not when an unplayable game gets installed.

Bad luck smilo and I do agree it should be from first login too.  Actually it should only be sub based on the month spent playing not calander but I don't see the devil sharping his ice skates anytime soon
