You guys may or may not know about this but there is a serious flaw in Windows XP.

This video here describes it very well...

Oh, and Microshaft want to keep it quiet!

But never fear, the fix is included in SP1, so if you keep up-to-date with your Windows Update, you should be fine.

This was a public service announcement brought to you by the letter 'T', the number '9' and the color 'Vermillion'

PHEW! I only just got away with that. Fortunately I dl'ed SP1 only yesterday.
I've always been a Microsoft fan and poo-poo'ed the knockers and Linux lovers as geeks, but if it takes, in my case 45mb, to put right a product which cost me £170 then maybe the anti Bill Gates fraternity have got a point!

I lurk over at grc.com and this flaw was flagged up some weeks ago - and they also kindly donated a 30Kb download that stops the problem.  On the other hand, if you like 30MB downloads........ ;-)

Seriously though, the 30Kb fix (xpdite) stops the problem but obviously is NOT a service pack.  But if you are on dial up you may want to try the grc method until you have time and a clear line to download all that stuff from Microsloath.
