I've just had a call from Belinda fretting saying someone wants to use the Noble Suite on Thursday and into the evening.

She said she will try to move them to the centre room but if they didn't want that she wanted to know what she should do.

I know it's a pain but I said that if she can't move them then she just has to use the Noble Suite and we'll have to hold set up off until Friday morning. I know this may be inconvienient but I don't think we can ask them to take a £500 hit on room hire (+ associated extras) when we get given it free (and it's not the end off the world to set up on Friday am if we have to).

It may well all pan out but this is a heads up just in case.

Ninj,

if you guys were still planning on playing poker etc then we can ask them for one of their other conference rooms to be made available (there's on the first floor next to room 10 IIRC).

If this is the case it's a perfect opportunity for us to try Thursday as an activity day.

Years ago pen we talked about a round of golf or an activity on the Thursday.

I mean we could do golf on the Thursday for those who want to?

I just think we should come with a few options as a backup and be open to those going on Thursday as to what is happening. Lan's Thursday is a push for some people as its more money. Are they going to be in there all day or the evening?

So any idea what's within a drive able 20 mile distance for activities?

To be honest mate it's not something I'd want/care to get involved in. I've never suggested an activity on Thursday (perhaps on a Sunday?).

I think we do enough and run enough for the LAN as it is without going overboard on other stuff. We're not a holiday club. The Bowling was a one-off for DMR'ers and is not a regular thing.

If people would like to meet up and do something on the Thursday then that's just fine, just let them go organise it themselves.

Not being harsh but we have enough to do as it is.

Isn't Thursday more about getting there for the evening so you have the full day Friday? So drinks in the bar and a jolly good chat?

I'm there Thursday (but only after I've done a days shift in Huntingdon). The problem with organised is the organising, it's painful and requires full commitment from all which I don't believe you'll get. That said, to Pen's point, if you want to play golf, say so, see if anyone else does and go right ahead, but don't endeavour to make it a dMw arranged thing if that makes sense. More of a social plus if it happens.

Thursday we have some ideas with, but yes it is mainly a social, the last one was special as it XX and we have 30+ turn on the thursday!

I agree with the above.. While it's unfortunate that we most likely won't have the room.. That's life and as we all know the deal at the Crommie is still excellent.

I'm a little wary of running a poker tourney the first night as if anyone throws their toys out it could set the scene for the rest of the Lan.. I'd rather sup beers and talk arse.. I could bowl but tbh I don't fancy organising anything..

I think chat beers and fodder and if we can get in the room we can set up
