Well, we got the (rather large) patch last night and I have to say, so far so good.

The interface has been "cleaned up" the whole thing just seems more polished. The dreaded "squads" menu now shows all slots (filled or empty) and there is a dedicated "private/public" check box.

The mini-map looks better and well, sharper; they must have cleaned up the bitmaps or given it larger textures, because (on my machine) it used to look blurry and now it doesn't.

Stability is better. I didn't have a single crash last night, and Faust, Blunt and myself and a few others had a cracking game. The only downside was when, as ironically we were discussing the fact the game seemed more stable, the server rebooted... ah well!

I didn't play with the commo rose much, but I did have a brief look and the commands are now on there for squad leaders you can now choose which command to send (or not).

I was playing as Sniper and the first change I noticed was that dropping the MAV, now does just that. I wasn't jumped straight into MAV view! I could drop the MAV quickly and run to cover before piloting it from the relative safety of a building.

I think we'll all be finding little things for a few days to come, but all round this patch seems to be the step forward we wanted. It's a shame this wasn't the form the game was released in. Looks like the BETA is over!

Hopefully dropping the SOFLAM or whatever it's called has also been changed.

thumbs down for me...yes it's improved the look and feel of the game but it's made my gameplay worse with stutter

thumbs down from me too

1. Had my 3 first game crashes in BF3 and all within a 2 hour period... daft
2. Game looks better, but reacts more sluggish now.. feels more like a consol game then ever.
3. Spotting seems broken, unable to spot anything now, even standing 2m from a enemy tank, and wasnt able to spot it.....
4. Stinger/IGLA seems fubar too, incredibly hard to lock as they just dont start to lock on at all....

What he said, mine crashes a lot and can't lock on to enemy planes, bit too much of a delay before it even starts!

1) Crashes? Never lost them, allways had them.
2) QQ-ing sucks now. I tryed the attack this flag thing but it's not working really good. You have to pres Q and scroll down.
3) They screwed around with all the setups you had. I wish they would have finally sorted that your setups now stick with the camouflage and all. Now you even have to recheck all the guns because even the sniperrifle starts off with a laserthingy...

+1

Also Stinger/IGLA/Rockets/Javalin's DO NOT AUTO RELOAD You have to come out of the viewfinder in order for it to reload before it did it automatically.

My game is fubar'd I play for 5 mins no problem then game stutter....

robo thingy is easier to deploy and drive.
MAV no longer acts as a lift to get you on top of things (is it really worth having?)
Many laggy moments (but that may be our server/my connection etc.)
otherwise it hasn't really bothered me, but I was always pretty stable for bf3.
my game has hung at mapchange, but it did that occasionally before.

You have to un-scope to reload any weapon DD

im sure prior to the patch the IGLA and Rocket did it for you after you fired it?

Nope.

They've really made the orders (Q) hard to use.
I seem to be getting some stutter now.
First crash this year (had a couple when the game first came out).
Tanks etc seem to be disabled very quickly now which favours the defender a little too much IMO.
Map starts straight away which is great for me with a SSD but pants for others who are still loading the map when i've already capped the first flag.

Overall

Yeah, I agree with the orders and map loading things. I love it, but I can see it being annoying for those with a 7 year HDD that loads the maps in about the same time it takes to run barefoot from london to dubai. The orders are just a pain, especially because I use a controller, and have to go to the mouse to give commands.
All our Gods have abandoned us.

Has anyone played it on console recently I wonder how different it is to pc?
