Guys,

After much consideration and deliberation Gortex, BrotherTobias and I have put together a Texas Hold'em Tourney for Thursday night.

While this is being offered to LAN Attendees, this is a non-dMw sanctioned event. This private event is being organised by LAN attendies and not dMw.

This is a Fun event with the low entry fee of £5. Depending on numbers, winner takes all 2nd place get's their stake back.

The event will be held in the LAN room on Thursday night starting at 9pm to acommodate late arrivals.

In addition there are specific rules about the game that will need to be adheared to at all times, the most important one being conduct. The complete set of rules including betting and game play will be sent directly to you once you've expressed your interest.

If you've never played Texas Hold'em before and are interested, I suggest you google it so you understand how the game is played. This is designed to be a fun and social event so don't be shy in signing up. After al it's just a £5'r!

Some of us that have played poker in the past know what to expect and how to conudct ourselves. However, just to be clear, once the game starts you are committed to the end. You are expected to act with maturity and above all, do not let this spoil your weekend!

If you feel that you can't manage losing, do Gortex, Tobias and I a favour and don't enter. We want to have fun and enjoy the game!

In order to give you some insight to the rules. Here's a list of the highlights:

1. In Hold'em, there is effectively four rounds of betting. The minimum bet is equal to the Big Blind (unless you have less), except on the last round, the minimum bet is doubled or 2x the Big Blind. Think of a "blind" as an ante.

2. The blinds will double every twenty minutes to keep the game moving.

3. We will be playing with chips not cash. There is to be no money on the table.

4. There's no buy-in after the start of the game.. When you're out, you're out.

All rules including order of hands, how hold'em works etc. will be sent to you directly once you've expressed your interest. Keep in mind the expected conduct and the start time of 9pm. This is a trial event. If it works well it might reappear at future LANs but this is not guaranteed!

Save your questions until you've received the rules. Remember, this is a private non-sanctioned event.

Quick suggestion, I think the game would be better if we played with no limit betting and set the minimum bet to the size of the big blind. This is standard for normal tournament rules and will speed the game up alot. We will then get awesome things like all in's and bluffing. Just an idea!
