It happens quit often that a CT buys a shield. As a T it works alot of times by circling around him and shoot @ him (it does depends on which gun you have). Usually your opponent doesn't circle around enough to get you. It's also easy as someone is ducking to aim better.

Not to well explained but I hope you guys get the picture.

Another way of dealing with shields is to aim at their feet. When they are moving (in any direction) their feet are exposed.

Your strafing movement works well also if you combine it with a flash. The shield guys never turn away for some reason ...  :D

Duvel - I believe what you're talking about is known as "Circle Strafing" (strafing left or right whilst moving the mouse the opposite way on it's X axis).

Normaly as a tactic in CS it's utter rubbish due to the short duration of firefights (far more popular on things like UT or Halo) but you are right that it has a useful application for shields.  However I personally like to "stick n move" quickly till I get close enough to stab em :)

I mean when someone wants to get a better shot, they crouch for increasing aim. Most people can't turn real quick when their down like that. So if you're in a close quarter combat, the best thing for you to do is circle around him and try and shoot at head hight. He'll try to shoot back but is to late with every shot he fires.

Why can people not turn so quickly when crouched?  Surely it's the same as when standing (I agree that when running you may be able to turn quicker)

I have no idea why but some people just can't turn around real fast. It depends on the opponent the most. I believe it's a mouse setting aswell. Might want to give it a try then?

Circle strafing works well on a shielded enemy simply because they can't see as much of you as you can see of them.  When you go out of their field of vision they have to guess where you are.  If they guess wrong (and they usually do) then you end up behind or beside them and are able to kill them easily.
