Just to let you know I brought up Tut and DD on jumping round corners and into battle, I am against this but we need to be clear and DD complained and said it what he was told 1 jump was ok.  I would like a clear meessage but that just me.

Also I have been a little hot on the language please let me know if I am being ott!!!

I remember the rule in CSS, which was you can jump out of the way of a nade. Jumping or jump around a corner was a no-no, Ice hawk was doing it a little while ago, but not seen him do it recently (think he got the hint).

I looked in the TCS rules done by OB, couldn't see anything in there, but I'm sure it's buried in that section somewhere.

If we do continue with this rule, maybe we need to rethink our terminology, i.e 'do not jump around corners to avoid bullets'  rather than the just 'no bunny hoping' (that kind of thing)

:)

Apparently I actually exist! Or maybe it was the drink?

'do not jump around corners to avoid bullets'   works for me...it's a clear message and can't really be misunderstood.
Tbh, I always assumed bunny-hopping was what I used to see in CS:S games where players constantly hop (a little to the left/a little to the right) and it somehow made them move/bounce faster. Saw it a lot when they hopped down ramps and so on.

A little hop here and there can surely be forgiven. Pretty sure we've hit the jump key on a few occasions when someone gives you a fright, or wanting to talk in-game and hitting talk-key and space at the same time when in a panic.  Just keep an eye out for repeat offenders.

A little hop here and there is fine imo. easily done in a panic, and forgiveable occasionally.
I don't like the jumping around corners into action, rather than away from action, if you know what I mean.
So agree with Toby's OP, but I don't think 'do not jump around corners to avoid bullets' is the correct wording.
How about 'Do not jump around corners' plain and simple?

We didnt have a clear rule back in the CSS days, but all had no problems following the unwritten rule..

But i agree to blunts wording, leaves no misunderstandings.

I remembered I saw DD jump once and Toby called him on it, and he said that about jumping once. To be honest, to me it looked like he panicked and jumped out of the way (with his knife out, which I found hilarious).

On a serious note, although I do not disagree with Toby's OP, I too find it alright for the occasional panic-jumps, or the jump-out-of-the-way-for-a-grenade-jump. The jumping up and down like a bunny or a kangaroo, that is what ticks me off. And around corners! That is the worst of them all. When you walk and suddenly you get a flying person in your face and shoots you. Sure, it is tactical in the sense you surprise the enemy, but it is good for killing, and not for rescuing hostages or planting a bomb. But then again, this might annoy me as I am always at the end where I get surprised and killed.
Either way, it is the way we have played the game since I joined some 100 years ago, and if this is the way we want it, we should be clear.

So from me here is the suggestion:

In the server rules - 'Jumping around corners are NOT allowed!' and 'Bunny-hopping is NOT allowed! (We are still going for the old hopping around like a mad-man or did I not get the memo of it being removed?)

I would not go out of my way to be strict when I see the occasional jump as a reflex, but I think personally it is quite clear what is jumping around corners and bunny-hopping. So I would probably let the one jump pass..(Space is a very large button to push :narnar:)

But I think in all fairness, we need to agree, and back each other up on this, we can not have admins going against admins and discuss it openly and disagreeing. Discuss privately, agree, stand together. It is like a child with parents who openly argues about what to do or not to do: In the end the parents looses respect from the child and it will do what it wants.

I agree with Ellie and the ones above.

It's easiest just to say no jumping around corners and no bunny hopping. Then, if someone does it occasionally you can let it go. If they keep doing it then pull them up on it.

Once you've let the cat out of the bag and start allowing it for certain things then it's hard to reign it back in.

My 2 cents anyway :)

Cool I think that we should stick these up in the rules area so all know how to behave. :)
