Are you applying for a Raider position, or Social membership?
I am applying to be a Raider.

Tell us a bit about yourself! Who are you? Where are you from? How old are you? What kind of work do you do?
I am  the fly in your soup, I'm the door handle that grabs your shirt, I am DARKWING DUCK! Actually, I am a steady stream of pop-culture references, I am a guy that likes jokes, I am human and therefore prone to making mistakes, I learn by seeing and by doing, I can take a joke and will protest when I feel seriously wronged or someone crosses my personal line. I am occasionally childish in non-raiding situations but I will try to keep it in check.
I am a 22-year old male, residing in a somewhat small town in Denmark. My name is Kristian Langager and I like chocolate, music, comedy and long walks on the beach. I am currently unemployed, attending a psychology class once a week, and professionally seeing a psychotherapist.

Tell us about your personality, and why you enjoy the game.
I thought my personality was a part of who I am, but I guess I can expand a little more seriously. I am a person that wants to be the very best, or get as close to the very best as I can. If I have to do a tedious task, I prefer to do it while working towards multiple goals at the same time, e.g. Farming Oshu'gun Crystal Powder for The Black Talbuks while farming Ogre Beads for Telaar Reputation. I think independently most of the time, but follow orders as long as they don't conflict with my common sense. I dislike leading but am not incapable of doing it.

How long have you been playing computer games and what kind?
I've been playing computer games since 1997, where I played Doom and Starcraft as well as Tekken 2 on the PS1. I've since played FPS's, RPG's, RTS's, Racing Games, Flash Games of all varieties, Puzzle Games... Pretty much all kinds of games except point-and-click adventure games. I currently play WoW, Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Brutal Legend and Team Fortress 2 the most.

There are other guilds on the server, why did you apply to us?
I know Hubbah, who I met through Scenarios, and if the rest of the Guild is half as cool, entertaining and nice as he is, I can't see how I shouldn't pick this Guild.

What other guilds have you been in and why did you decide or were forced to move on?
I've been in multiple, most notably Old Skool (Emerald Dream), that reformed into Heresy (Emerald Dream), which then merged with Bridgeburners (Emerald Dream). The reason I did not follow the others into Bridgeburners is that my computer cannot handle 25-man raiding to my satisfaction. 10-man is no problem however.

Who do you know in Dead Men Raiding? How do you know them?
Like I said, I know Hubbah through Scenarios and then battle.net. We've played a bit of Diablo 3 together as well.

Have you read our 'what we look for' and 'philosophy' posts? What do you think of them?
I have read them and I think they are perfectly reasonable and sensible.

What do you look for in a guild?
People that know what fun is, that can take critique and that doesn't decide to demote people for correcting or suggesting improvements to a damn joke. I'm not even kidding here, a Guild I was in demoted me when I offered a better version of a Guildy's joke. (The punchline was poke-mon and I suggested poke-em-on might be better.)

Do you actively play any alts that we could find you in in case we need to contact you?
I am the proud owner of 5 level 90 characters, 5 characters at level 85 or higher and a Monk I've only just gotten started on. I prefer playing on my Mage as there are still lots of things I can do on him, but once I'm Valor capped I may move on to other characters for maximum efficiency.

''Dead Men Raiding'' - What comes to mind when you see that guild name?
I keep thinking I've seen a similar name somewhere, in some other game before, but I might be mistaken. But there are certainly no negative memories or emotions from that name. As I've already stated, using Hubbah as an indicator makes you look like a wonderful bunch.

What are your plans for the game? In what way would you like others to know you?
I plan to have fun and do what I want. If I can help Guildies, or even a random stranger with something, I will try. I'd like to be known as a swell guy.

Name one thing you don't like about WoW in its current state.
It is very alt-unfriendly, unless you play much and focus on progressing your character while you play. However, thanks to the Farm at Halfhill, alts can become very profitable. Planting on up to 176 plots of land every day can be pretty profitable.

A guildie says something you find offensive, what do you do?
I am offended but keep it to myself, unless it is a personal offense directed at me, at which point I will take it up with, first the guildie and if that doesn't solve it, an officer. We don't have to be best of friends, but being hostile towards other guild members can only create trouble for everyone.

Cake or Pie?
I like a well-made cake, but I probably prefer a nice meat pie.

ADDITIONAL questions for Raid Applicants:

Which evenings of the week are you available to raid?
I can do anything from wednesday to tuesday.

Can you and will you speak actively with other guild members on Teamspeak and in guild chat?
I can guarantee that if there is a topic I can latch on to, I will try to join the chat. Once I get situated and feel more comfortable around all these new people, I might even start conversations myself.

Do you have a stable internet connection?
Yes, I have not had problems with my internet in a very long time. (1 year++)

What sort of frame rates do you get when raiding?
A measly 15-20, depending on encounter. They are steady however, and almost never dip below the 15.

What kind of raiding experience do you have?
Let's see, in vanilla I didn't do much raiding, as I only reached 60 3-4 weeks before The Burning Crusade launched. In the Burning Crusade I didn't achieve much, cleared Kara and Gruul, 2/4 TK and 3/6 SSC, 4/5 Mount Hyjal and 4/9 Black Temple post-nerf, no Sunwell. During Wrath of the Lich King I cleared Naxx, OS1D, Malygos, all of normal-mode Ulduar, TotC normal and ICC normal. Cataclysm came around and I started picking up speed, 4/6 HC BWD, 2/5 HC BoT, 6/7 HC Firelands pre-nerf and then 3/8 HC DS before my Guild merged. In Mists I've only done 4/6 MSV normal and 1/6 HoF normal, owing to a distaste for playing WoW seriously in the early months.

If you are a cross-server applicant, name someone from your home server that can vouch for you.
Nekassrof, Farm, Aoha and Rulf are all people I believe would vouch for me if you asked them.

If your armory does not show your intended spec then please make a template of it and link it.
I never PvP so I am always in my desired spec and gear.

Why did you decide to play this class?
I've been playing Mage since the start and I just can't get myself to stop playing Devlan. I like the damage output, I like the utility, I like the buffs I bring and I like being a Caster in general, It just feels right.

What do you think your class' role is in raid content?
Primarily DPS, however I have both Tanked (High King Maulgar) and soaked all kinds of explosions (Ragnaros, Ultraxion) as well as being able to generally survive a Wipe with Invisibility to mass ress for quick recovery.

Comment on your build. Why did you choose it? What do you think of other builds of your class? Why didn't you choose one of those? (important question)
Currently the best Mage Spec is Arcane, followed by Frost and then Fire, especially with my gear level. In patch 5.2 it is presumed that Fire will be number 1, Frost number 2 and Arcane number 3, but we can't know for certain untill the patch is live and numbers are finalized.
I like to play Frost and am pretty skilled at it, if I do say so myself. I dislike Arcane and I don't really have a reason why, I've tried it and I just don't like it.

I use Scorch for now, because it allows me to move fish for Fingers of Frost.
I use Ice Barrier for sustained incoming damage, and Temporal Shield for big hits, depending on the encounter.
I use Ring of Frost because it not only roots, it stuns up to 10 targets for a good amount of time. (Although it does break on damage taken.)
I prefer Cauterize even though I shouldn't need it on most fights, if a fight calls for it I will go for one of the other, depending on what is most beneficial.
Nether Tempest is my favorite Mage Bomb, because I like being able to multi-dot and the chance to proc more Brain Freezes than Frost Bomb.
I choose Invocation because I prefer the mobility it offers, and because Incanter's Ward currently suck.

This is my personal WoL http://worldoflogs.com/guilds/82683/ feel free to look at it and make your own decisions about my ability to play a Mage. I only started using it recently.

Love and hugs and kisses in the most fabulously politically correct way, Devlan aka. Kristian

Real nice app Kristian, it goes a long way to make up for the fact that you know Hubbah, so we'll try not to hold that against you!

Any chance you can make it onto our TS server tonight to have a chat?   Ideally between 1800-1900 Game Time if you can make it?

TS Details are in this thread:
