I agree with SJ. Tut should be spoken to and reminded to uphold the standards. He's old enough to realise that someone isn't enjoying the sarcasm and he should have stopped in my opinion. If anyone leaves because of the way they are being treated by another member then that member needs to be held accountable.

I've now heard back from Tut.
I asked him what was said on the night and also what his reply to DD's initial PM.
Tut's reply:

I honestly have no idea what was said that upset him, there was the usual banter flying around but nothing that I'd consider offensive or personally directed towards DD.

When he sent me the PM, I fired back a brief apology for any offence I might have unintentionally caused. If he really is leaving on the basis of anything that was said to him last night, it's a massive over-reaction and I suspect there's something else which has upset him.

Meanwhile DD was back on the server last night and seemed happy enough.
No mention was made of him leaving, and I tend to think he will ease himself back into the community quietly (I could be wrong, but that's my gut feeling)

Tut has apologised for any offence caused, so I will just ask him to be aware that not everybody appreciates banter and to moderate it with DD in future.
I'll also tell DD that I've advised Tut to moderate it.

I think that just about covers it atm.

While hissy fits like this cause us all a degree of worry and not a small amount of PM's and admin posts, it's good that things seem resolved and everyone is happy. If you think it's best that we just let it rest, then that sounds like a plan. If and when you feel it's appropriate you could ask DD if he would like me to quietly dump his resignation post in 'Compost corner'?
