As you can see, he left posted that he was leaving dMw, so I'm wondering what kicked off tonight in CS?   I'm guessing it was in CS as he is logged as joining the TS server at 18:59 and jumping into the CSGO channel.  He was logged leaving the TS server at 20:45.

Anyone know anything?

Ain't heard zip.

Probably shouldn't get involved but I'll send him a PM.

Gone_Away

He's sent a PM to blunt toby and tut.. as far as I can tell it's to do with tut..

Blunt

OK, as far as I can make out, Tut said something Tutish to DD and he took offence.

TBH I think DD has over-reacted to one of Tut's sarky comments.

Personally, I love it when I get some abuse from  Tut, and usually give some back.
Usually it's not too rude or personal, but occasionally it is (which I don't mind).

This is a storm in a tea-cup and should be able to be resolved.

I will use my amazing powers of reconciliation to do just that.

I don't know what was said, DD didn't elaborate, but I would imagine it was a ****take when he got killed or something similar.
I asked DD what went on and this is the steam-chat:
QuoteBlunt: Hi DD, sorry to hear you've had a falling out, can you let me know what was said and I'll have a go at sorting it tmrw
Blunt: just off out to pub now but will answer messages when I get back
.DickDastardly.: being scarastic towards me and my gameplay generally being disrespectfull towards me in my opionion not the first time it has happend and have left games in the past becuase of it
.DickDastardly.: they way tut speaks to me he doesnt speak to anyone else like it
.DickDastardly.: i asked tut on cs comms what his problem was as he was ****ing me off he didn't say anything
.DickDastardly.: i am really quite fed up with it now this is not the first time this has happend while I cant remember tut's excat words tonight he was generally being very scarcastic towards me saying im **** at cs:go (not in so many words but more or less) and just being disrespectfull towards me unprovoked
.DickDastardly.: I have'nt had a falling out with tut as I didn't say anything to warrant his behaviour tonight
.DickDastardly.: nor have done in past when he has been like it
.DickDastardly.: I don't really feel like I want to be apart of dMw when people behave in this way - snokio was on my team when tutonic was being scarastic/disrespectful on cs:go comms
.DickDastardly. is now Offline.

I've had to intervene with my 'oil on troubled waters' spell a couple of times before with DD. (I should be a Mage or summat)
He's had problems with Kreg and Duvel which I've had to sort out.
They were both over-reactions to perceived criticism.

My thoughts: DD needs to not react so badly to people saying mildly critical things about him, and to grow a pair and not throw his toys when he's had the **** taken out of him*.

*I don't know if this is the whole truth as the 1st I learned of it was his PM. I didn't hear the comments.

Now you know as much as I do.

I'll be on it tomorrow if I can find the time. (in the middle of a job atm and really tired)
Regards
Blunt

I talked to him last night before he left, and he told me he wanted to sort things out. If he did not like the outcome of the situation he wanted to leave dMw. I tried to reason with him, and he seemed to have cooled off a little and I told him not to do anything rashly. That did apparently not work.

As far as I can tell from what he told me, he had the last straw with Tut yesterday. He told me he asked over the coms what was Tuts problems with him, and that he did not get any answers. Also he told me left the games shortly after because of it. He also said he has had some issues with Tut at previous LANs and games.

Now here is my two cents on the matter. /rant on

To be honest, I too, like Blunt find Tuts remarks and sarcasm funny and think nothing of it. I also believe that one of the reasons he is this way, is so that he can get some in return. Some people are like that, and as long as they accept the abuse back, I have no problem with it. I even find it entertaining. That said, I can not tell anyone else how to react to it. And to be frank (because I do not look like a George) people are allowed to have feelings and react accordingly. I think personally that this has blown out of proportions, but as I said, people react differently.

But if someone feels this strongly like DD does in this case, we should take it seriously, even if we might not agree. No one in the community should feel disrespected or treated badly. That is what we stand for is it not? Now, I do not know if it is too late to sort this issue out as he has left, but I think there is a simple solution to it as I see it.

Ask Tut to dial back the sarcasm if told to, and tell DD to say enough is enough in a constructive manner. I do not think that Tut does this out of spite or to actually being hurtful, but he might not realize that sometimes it can be. And if he is asked in a constructive manner I believe he would stop.
It is more difficult to tell someone how to act when their feelings are hurt, but it the long run, I think it is easier to tell them they have had enough. I do not think that the way DD left yesterday was addressing the real issue he has with Tut, and thus we are nowhere further in solving the problem.

But like I stated earlier, it might seem that this has gotten a little out of hand as one member of the community has left because of it.

Thank you for taking the time to read my long post.

Sadly i wasnt around at the time, a bit under the weather these days and in the middle of house purchase so a little bit offline these days.

On topic: I know Tut has bumped heads with members in the past over remarks, comments and so on. I find most of his jokes/remarks funny, tho not all people have the same sense of humor, and might end up taking Tuts' remarks personal.
Yet i have never seen a reaction like this, maybe a bit over the top reaction from DD, as he should just have cooled down and contacted a section/community admin forehand.
Problems is that it was over coms, where we have no logs or anything to investigate. Yet if its correct DD made an attempt to resolve it himself by asking it tut had a problem with him, and then gets ignored... Then i see a big issue.

Were a open community with a ton of different people from all over the world, we cant all be the best of friends. Tho when it drives someone that far, we need to react, we all agree to the code of conduct which have to rules to protect our members from this.

QuoteAttitude / Community

A big part of what makes dMw what it is today is the sense of community people feel with each other. As part of this community you should treat all other members with respect and report problems you see in-game that are contrary to the dMw ethos.

Language

All players should hold a mature level of conduct at all times so keep your language in the forums, on the servers and when using voice comms in line with this.

I heard one or two minor sarcy comments from Tut but his coms were very low last night, he told DD to 'go now....now......now' (something to that effect) and then DD ran in the opposite direction, so Tut said he was useless or rubbish or something, i thought it was funny, but later, DD asked over game coms whether Tut has a problem with him as he is ****ing him off, Tut replied 'err no', it was out of the blue, and DD may not of heard him, maybe i missed something or some other comments that were made, i was actually waiting for DDs classical laugh which didn't happen.

I get a lot abuse from Tut, and i'm sure its nothing personal

I think we all get a lot of abuse from Tut, tho as i said most people rarely take him srsly if ever ;)

If thats the case, i guess DD just overreacted

I wasn't there so I can't comment on what went on but there have been a few times he has either jumped off TS or has felt that he needs to leave 'the given situation' for whats happened either in game or on TS.

The thing is he's alot younger than us and we've been together a long time, he still feels new and often he doesn't know how to take what we say. I think its sometimes a build up of a series of comments from others which causes his reaction in this way leading to him venting steam on the forum, TS or in game. His post is the usual DD, posts something without activating brain and then realises what he has done afterwards. Posting in the moment is something we have all done.

As Blunt has said all we can do is reassure him and see what happens from there.

i wasn't around last night so can't comment on what happened.  I have a good 'gaming' relationship with DD and must admit i am very surprised that he has decided to leave.  The thing that concerns me more is the fact he said he has "been contemplating this decision for a while now".  Makes me wonder if there is anyone else feeling the same.....

As for tut, i understand his sense of humor and his sarcasm but from my experience being in game with him i feel he does tend to be more 'harsh' to certain people, which probably isn't intentional, but i have in the past felt like that myself.  Like the rest of us i get my fair share of banter from tut and sometimes it does annoy me slightly but end up taking it with a pinch of salt.  It definitely wouldn't make want to leave.  I suppose it all comes down to how well you know the person or how used you are to their mannerisms.  I think DD has gone a llittle over top in leaving and maybe should have mentioned it to someone first (which as far as i am aware he hasn't).

Like I said, he told me yesterday that he wanted to leave dMw if he did not like the outcome. I tried to sort it but I see I did not do enough as he just left anyway. I also see he has deleted me from steam friends, and are not in the community anymore. So I do not know what to make of it..

I wasn't suggesting more could have been done SJ you did what you could, I'm more wondering why he never said Anything  weeks or months ago if he had been thinking of leaving for a while

Gone_Away

I agree with SJ. Tut should be spoken to and reminded to uphold the standards. He's old enough to realise that someone isn't enjoying the sarcasm and he should have stopped in my opinion. If anyone leaves because of the way they are being treated by another member then that member needs to be held accountable.
