Ahh ok, I shall try that then.

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work. Oh well I shall wait. 4.2.2 is stable enough.

Did I mention that you also have to clear cache and data as well as force closing Google Framework Services?

Cleared the cache and data on Google Services Framework. Then stopped the service. I didn't need to reboot and when I looked my device was telling me that the last check for an update was 01/01/1970. I hit update and the download began. I was plugged into a power supply though, which might have an effect?

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Well it updated on its own last night so there we go, I'm on 4.3 now too. No discernible difference so far!

There was a problem with the nexus 7 units where after some months the memory used to eventually the fill up. Rather than clear out old data from the drive as it went along Android used to leave it and only tried to free up some space when it actually needed it. This made the tablet slow down considerably as space had to be wiped before it could be written to.  Now though Android 4.3 uses the TRIM function whereby the device wipes data from unused space during idle times and when the battery is at 70% +. Obviously it will have no effect on nexus  4 users but makes a big difference to older nexus 7's

Aye mine went smoothly too, no gremlins have shown their head and it's all working smoothly.   It's very subjective, but it does feel slightly snappier, no idea why.

Nice to see so many Nexus 4 Owners!, Since I got the update that same day Snapchat crashed 2-3 times and turned my phone off, not sure if it's related but it's never done anything like that before apart from that the update has been fine liking the new features which makes life a little easier (dialer auto complete is awesome).

To add to the debate I've luckily had no issues at all. The phone runs perfectly fine.
