Which stole them from so many other games, so not really a rip off, merely a emerging market standard

Last day of the beta today. So get it while you can, until November 1st.

Do you think the BETA has changed your mind about the game? Do you think it was better than expected, much the same, or worse? Do you think they held too much back by not allowing commander or spectator modes?

Personally I felt it was "okay" rather than great. Too many flaws (and shockingly bugs!) were carried over from BF3. Some elements have been improved - the top of my list being the new bomb mode (CTF), the reinstatement of post-round chat (a critical BF feature) and finally, a working team communications system in the game!

Sound effects are second-to-none and the more detailed graphics are a bit more demanding of the old graphics card, but the water and underwater effects are very realistic - the best I've seen.

Destruction is much like BF:BC2 with some things totally impossible to scratch with a nuke, while others can be blown away with a handgun. No consistency to the design though.

The tall buildings had lifts, but no stairwells. Why not? Laziness? I would have been more forgiving of the buildings only having a lobby and top floor with indestructible windows on every non-accessible floor in between, if there had been a stairwell. How much more amazing would it have been if stray fire from a chopper stitched broken glass all across the side of a building?

Again, repeated shelling brought the office building down, but at no time does it show any progressive damage until the moment of collapse. They could have at least had four or five "going, going, gone" models of the lower structure.

Sadly hit detection is still like something from the dark ages (as BF3 or worse). Duck down and as much as a full second later, get "killed" were you were standing - hence the plethora of "I was shot round a corner" complainers. I was killed more than once by the office building falling, when I was on a parachute heading away from the side of it, completely clear! Clearly the "killzone" is oversized.

There's still no word on what administrator (RCON) functions will be available, although Phogue.net (makers of ProCon) have said their application will work with BF4.

BF4 is a good game, and an improvement over BF3, but like recent film remakes (Total Recall for instance) it has some gaping flaws and hasn't look at it's predecessor closely enough to see what made it great, instead assuming (incorrectly) "new and pretty" is always better.

Disagree entirely. I spoke to a few others about this at the LAN. Let's put this in perspective. If you have an account and accrue a reasonable amount of hours the money works out to be minimal. The fact they store all your stats etc is part of the service too. My pc couldn't run the beta very well but its very old so I am hoping the finished game might run on it a bit better until Christmas when i will update it with new hardware. Only a week to go people!

I kind of agree on this one. I managed to get the game and the premium pack at a decent price, £59. For that price, if I put in lets say 100 hours of game play. It is a decent priced hobby. If I put in 1000 hours (Duvel....), it is very reasonable.

DuVeL

That is what actually got mentioned during the LAN lol! Ahwell, if I like a game I play it a lot. Just join TS and see if we all can play it together.

Depends if you compare it to an FPS or an MMO. For a game that you buy and play 'as is' with maybe a patch or two it's obscenely over priced. But compared to an MMO with continuous updates and new content added periodically then it's not such a bad deal.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

Putting it perspective, how long have we played BF3 for? I'm ASSUMING we should play as much BF4, which would be a good 2 years or maybe a year and a half. And for a multiplayer game that's 40-59 pounds (incl/excl premium), which will last you that long, that's not too bad.
