It would be nice if there was some sort of end game to work towards - the alpha sounds a bit empty & aimless right now.

to be honest I looked at the trailer and was bored.. defo not for me.

Could become Minecraft in Space. I'm a bit of a fan of Space Sims so while Minecraft is a sublime game this might develop into something equally as fun and relaxing. There's still a long way to go though and as mentioned not much content apart from sandbox building, although it is still an Alpha.

Some of the block placement seems a bit broken as well. I'm building a ship and for no apparent reason I can't add a final stair or wall block? The only way to complete is to destroy the surrounding blocks and rebuild from a different direction. Obviously some work still to be done.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

There are guns, currently inoperable in Alpha.
You can fly your creation.
The crashing is fun, you can actually buckle the thing so you can't get out.

Still needs a lot of optimising, I downloaded the Enterprise model from Steam Workshop and it destroyed the frame rate when you try and fly it. Accidentally reversed into another smaller starship model and broke off one of it's nacelles, which went flying off into space.

Had fun smashing the enterprise into an asteroid to crumple a huge section of the saucer.

Bits break off and float away if not completely destroyed.

Latest update has added magnetic feet for smaller craft, so you can dock into larger vessels now without smashing then to bits when you move the one you flew into.

mmm quite a fun game. I get the feeling there is a lot more to it than at first meets the eye... all I basically did was build small ships and then lose them when I couldnt work out how to slow them down / stop them.

You have to make sure you have engines going in all directions so you can slow down and go in different directions, if that makes sense.

Definately excited by this, can't really do much at the moment but once survival mode is ready it should be a good game. It's very pretty too :)

It's now starting to activate extra features.

- Warhead blocks enabled (not played with these yet)
- Small craft weapons and hand held weapons now enabled
- Small craft skids now have magnetic clamps to fasten to larger craft or objects.
- Mining drill now active, and asteroids are now built of different materials.
- Refinery now active (as of today)

I recommend downloading "The Shipyard" from the Steam Workshop to have a play with various size craft and see the destruction caused by small rockets.

Sounds good. I think this one will really take off as soon as we can host a persistent world and run it like Minecraft.

my refinery doesnt seem to work :( although mined some gold and then was chasing the particles all across space trying to collect them .....

Gortex and myself had a stint at this in MP tonight and had quite a laugh.

Has anyone else played MP?, we started it in 'non survival mode' so had everything within the game, we flew about a bit got lost and then decided to start building our own ships on the platform when we finally found it again.

We learnt quite a bit in a short space of time and wondered if anyone else would be interested in trying it out?

We think that if we started a survival game it would be a lot like Minecraft in that you would need to gather resources in order to construct different things within the game.

Now it's fully released it might be interesting if interested peeps joined together to explore it more, any takers ?

Chaosphere

I have it, and would love to have a go on it at some point with you guys :)

Yep was good fun and sparko learnt a very important lesson on ship building should you want to turn the ship around and fly back to space port.

Could try a trial server on someones machine at the lan and see how it goes. Plus I forgot to say the ships can now be fitted with guns, although not sure how to make it work yet.
