I tried the three month trial on our YouView box. It's great and works well. Films stream nicely and good quality, with no stuttering at all. Pause, etc works great.

Ultimately though we've cancelled it as we were unable to watch more than one or two films a month and for the subscription, we could buy more movies on DVD than we were watching! (Quality is comparable to DVD)

If you're watching at least a few movies a week, then I'd say it's worth it, but otherwise, it's just too pricey.

I've bought it thinking that I'd only use it to turn my normal tv into a "smart tv" purely to watch the iplayer on my normal tv...I can do this? hopefully I've not just wasted the money buying the box, having looked on the now tv website it says " create an account and start a 30 day free trial for sky movies and sky sports" - can I just cancel the trial after a month and use it purely to watch the iplayer i.e: the free stuff without having any paid subscriptions.

Cheers.

Yep it works as a glorified Free view box plus does BBC iplayer etc Although for just the iplayer a fifty quid Roku box might be a cheaper option

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I think you are thinking of a youview box...I'm talking about the NOW TV box which is £10.

Ahh, that thing that has been advertised on TV? My mother was going to get one of those until, in the store, she asked if she needed the subscription for it to work and they replied yes. So she didn't bother with it!
