This is obviously a bit beyond my pay-grade. But I just wanted to get an idea about how the org will be... er.... organised.

Few people in other orgs that i've spoken to said their sorting out into wings - each dedicated to a specific task (mining, etc) and having each of those run nearly autonomously. There would be maybe 3 wings and then one overall command group/person.

I've no issues at all with the layout, but it got me thinking. How will we be sorted out?

I guess I set this up as a place to do some musing on the setup aspects of the group. The ethos (for me) is spot on. I tend to play games (world of tanks and the like) and i'm not amazing at them, but I do it for fun. It kills it for me when people take things too seriously. The number of times I left guilds and things in the past because they claimed to be casual and were upset when someone didn't turn up to a casually organised event. Silly stuff!

It's above nobody's pay-grade really, none of us are being paid so we all get a say!

There are some example naming conventions on the RSI website to help guide how we name the wings etc and other elements of the organization, but the beauty of the game is that we can pretty much do what we want.   We're never going to be a 4,000 member hard-core group, so our organization structure needs to be a little more flexible to suit.      

Personally I'm waiting to see more about the game to see if we need or want to do anything.   My own opinion is that we'll probably end up having projects that we elect to undertake and we might end up switching between different types of projects to suit what we want to do.    I'm hoping to provide some 'Wing' decals but I want to see how they might be used in-game first.   It might be nice to be able to mount an DMW exploration/mining decal on the ship you have dedicated to that purpose for example.  If the game allows it then we'll provide some artwork to fill the gap!

In terms of the command structure nothing is yet set in stone.   dMw is run along a 'council' structure and individual games have their own council, each with their own 'chair' or Game Leader (or two chairs for the overall dMw Council).   That type of structure would adapt well to SC, but it's likely that we'll need to be more cooperative during alpha/beta before finalising a structure to see who ends up actually playing the game!   As to who fills each command post, who knows, it's a long way off and anything & anyone is a possibility.

Ah sorry about the misplacement of the post. Never thought about the 'projects' layout - thats pretty good.

I'll jump on Tanks TS next time i'm on. Bunch of us that play locally are all over that game right now.
