I'm gona have to remove myself from rgt for the time being as I can't afford to buy 1 as I'm sorting my new house and have no funds!

Got an external monitor and plug it into that? Or if your TV has HDMI, you should be able to connect the laptop up easily enough. If you just want to replace the screen, when you have funds, get a screen from ebay, or equivalent online store, and fit it yourself. Really easy to do with loads of videos on youtube. I've done several and will be a lot cheaper than a repair shop!
