Hi All,

So as a way of keeping active on Warframe and having a group of people to admin our clan, we now have 3 dMw members who have admin rights to the clan membership. SneakyTiger, Gorion (LydonB) and Al_Bert (Me :o)  ). We don't need to do much as everyone has equal standing to invite people to the clan but read on for the restrictions and benefits to "Not Being in the dMw Clan" (sounds backwards I know!).

Clan membership is a slightly screwed up thing in this game. You gain benefits to being in the clan by having people on your clan list to see if they are online etc. The dojo is a benefit once you are at a level to trade and to buy blueprints from the labs. You can also contribute resources to the item research in the labs.

The clan sizing also scales up resource drain for research. So any clan under 10 members are the smallest clan, a Ghost Clan.

Ghost Clan
Ghost Clans may have up to 10 members. Clans with fewer than 10 members can recruit until they have 10. To grow farther, they must first build a Shadow Barracks.

Shadow Clan
Shadow Clans may have up to 30 members. Clans with fewer than 30 members can recruit until they have 30. To grow farther, they must first build a Storm Barracks.

Research resource requirements:

Ghost: Base Requirement
Shadow: 3 Times
Storm: 10 Times

Benefit to staying a Ghost Clan is mainly the much lower resource count required for research. Believe me 3 x the resources is A LOT in this game especially Forma and Oxium, Mutigen Mass and Detonite Injectors etc. For that reason I'm suggesting that we keep the clan to under 10 as long as we are able to in order to maximize our research output for as long as possible.

That means as we have reached 9 members, we cannot add any more. This isn't a problem because we are such a small group that each person has the others on a friends list and we start squads mainly through the friends list.

I don't want to discourage people playing this game because of the clan scale penalty of increasing our numbers so here's what I am proposing.

1) Since there is nothing stopping any player progressing and levelling up personally by not being in the clan, no new members will be invited unless they reach a level where the would benefit from buying blueprints in the dojo. All you have to do is ask Sneaky, Gorion or Me and we'll send you an invite.
2) If you have been playing and have gone dormant, or are not playing so often, then you may be politely asked to leave the clan in game to allow another more regular player to get into the dojo to buy blueprints.
(This is in no way meant as a discouragement just given the limit to the clan size it makes sense to allow the people most actively participating in the game to benefit from the dojo).
3) If we do have a steady growth of sufficiently levelled players to warrant expansion to the next clan size, then we bite the bullet and go for it. There is no return to the Ghost Clan once we upgrade.
4) Anyone can volunteer to leave the clan for a period of time to allow others to try the game or buy blueprints knowing that they are fully welcome back in at any time when they resume a more active level of game play.

I want to avoid us going to the next clan level and finding we have 5 active players and this small group are now being forced to work 3 x as hard to grind for resources.

Make sense?

Please discuss and we can make a group decision after you have had your say.

Cheers,

Bert

As Albert said, this is the best solution for our numbers.

There are no passive benefits in being in a clan, apart from using the trade hub and replicating blueprints.  If anyone need blueprints we can invite, said player replicates and that's all there is to it.  As for trading, you can still be invited into the clan dojo in order to trade with other members.

Having 3x resource costs is tough, for comparison 1 forma takes 24hours to manufacture, and needs 25k credits, some common materials and two particular rare materials.  Currently, adding a corridor costs 1 forma + other mats, whilst a shadow clan would require 3 forma for a simple corridor.

Unless we have 15+ actives, there's no point in going shadow.

Sounds like a good way of doing it, unless we get more active players. Saves a lot of grinding for the ones that actually use the Dojo

To summarize our player activity.....

We have 8 Clan as Whitey seems to have left possibly after seeing this thread and being a rather fair fella.

Active members who play most days:

Badchi, DuVeL 1447, LydonB, sneakytiger, Varg1, Gh0sty

Friends List of Al_Bert players:

AngelofDeath69 (DA), nopeanuts, OldBloke, Sparko51, Teaell, Whighty, Jasman

Players not yet on my friends list:

Arctic89, sulky_uk

My take on the situation is we have 4 players who are still playing or new. DA, Arcticfire, Jas and Whitey making 11 in the community, 2 more than the Ghost Clan size.

Do any of the 4 guys on this list have any objections to the proposal as it stands? I think we're organised and sensible enough to manage this in the best way for the clan as long as anyone with an issue to raise communicates and we keep the info flowing (sounds a bit corporate that but communication is the killer!).

Tenilia/Januz also tried it out at least, but I guess his focus is on Diablo3 atm.

FatBob

I just started playing over the weekend and was pleasantly suprised at how good it is, just done solo stuff so far and trying to work things out like crafting shooting things etc (not going well !)

It's good running along walls shooting stuff. Come join us for an hour this evening. We'll do the tag along on a looting fest thing like we did with DA the other night. He got lots of good stuff.

Just don't spend your platinum until you speak to me.

Badchi

I've gathered a **** ton of resources recently, so just point me in the right direction ;-)

As for benefits of researches, since I have them all I may free my space for some promising newbie. Your call guys.

I like the ideas that have been put forward. The main benefit I can see as a clan is you can research stuff that normal players cant buy in the market. Im more than happy to drop in and out as needed to allow other people to get access to the blueprints etc.

Also Im on the design council as Im a founder, ill try and keep you posted as to whats in the pipeline.

Awesome, thanks GFK. Maybe you could start a design council thread to inform the clan?

Given the recent update and the fact that there is now a point to being constantly in a Clan which is to join in on the Dark Sector missions. I'm proposing that if we have anyone who wishes to join we upgrade to the next level of Clan. It's only fair to not prevent buddies wanting to join in on the missions. What do you all think?
Cheers, Bert

Gorion

From what I read, there's no real point to the whole dark sector/badlands system.  You build a rail to an unknown system, and set the taxes.  Another Clan/alliance comes over, builds another rail for the same zone, sets cheaper taxes and the rail that is used the most survives.  The whole concept ends when an Alliance comes over, and sets the taxes to the minimum amount possible; Game Over.

Considering the above, should we pay triple the amount of resources for everything the clan does? My opinion is no.  More so since we're in an alliance, so we're not the only clan building up rails.  Even more so, since my theory is that the taxes will be shared with every single clan in said alliance equally, thus the more clans joining, the less benefits there will be.

As far as buddies joining on missions, everyone will be able to join on these "missions"; there's no need to be in a specific clan/alliance, it's a simple exterminate against the rail guardians.  If our rail has more missions completion, we win, and vice-versa.

So in summary no restriction taking along friends to the dark sectors and very little clan tax advantage. The Alliance channel sends far more invites my way than Recruiting, tha'ts for sure.
Cheers, Bert

Gorion

Yes, the preferential recruiting/trading/collaboration parts are the largest benefit in my opinion.

It seems the the alliance has also hit the cap limit yesterday, so I doubt that upgrading to shadow will even be possible; even if we wanted to.

Hi Folks,

Just to put a friendly reminder out to all of you. The Clan max size is 10 and we have 9 already registered.

2 guys I can see are playing very regularly and deserve a chance to be part of the clan.

If you've not been playing much and fancy letting someone else take your space for a while to raid the Dojo (ready in 4 days - quote Gorion!) the please PM me.

(Background reminder: w go to 11 we have to build a Shaddow barracks and contribute 3x the resources to build new stuff - we have maybe 11 active members, so that means we'd be contributing 3x the resources with the same number of players which would be costly and insane).

Cheers,

Bert
