Just putting the idea out there but after last years fun am wondering if we fancy doing the Great British Beer festival again.

It runs from the 12th to the 16th of August and see the attached link for further details: http://gbbf.org.uk/

Perhaps we can organize another meet up and a similar great tasting list that Tut found last year (still have memories of the black forest gateau stout) to try.

It's during the week too!

Yep, I'm up for another run to the GBBF.  Great time last year and muchos beer tasted.

Any day would suit me, think we met at lunchtime on the Friday last year and then partied on into the evening.

I'll be going again this year. Beer fan or not, I totally recommend it.

I'm a confirmed lager drinker and I enjoyed last year......  except for the banana beer! I'll be there too.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

It's worth pointing out that this is not just a crusty old 'traditional bitter drinker' festival, the depth & variety of drinks available is impressive to say the least.

I think Pen even managed to rustle up some Babycham from somewhere last time ;)

I think one of the key things will be what date is best to attend the festival. As I seem to remember last time the last day which is a Sat although the weekend is not the best choice as most of the best beers will have sold out and of course there is likely to be a good deal more people at it. Also the Tuesday does not open to the public until 5pm so I think something in the middle.

Was it Thursday or Friday we went last year? I probably tried to many tasty beverages for my brain to remember. I also seem to remember Monkey and I found it tricky to find the hotel after and I have no idea why.

It was a Friday wasn't it? I seem to remember people piling as they finished work...

I'd be game for a Thursday if it makes it easier to get a seat etc. We were pretty lucky with our table last time but it's by no means guaranteed.

If the train is a reasonable price, I will try to attend, although, I may be cycling down the Danube.

Will check dates.

I doubt you'll get far on a bike. I think you should sort out some sort of boat, or it may all end in tears.

We went on a  Friday last time.

Saturday is a bad day to go due to the lack of beer choice (hence it closes at 7.00pm and some bars will be de-rigging earlier than that due to lack of beer), so much as I understand that it would be easier to get to on a Saturday, it's generally regarded as not the best day to go along.

I'd be happy to do any day, but would prefer to be there on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Irrespective of the day, I'll be aiming to get there from opening time (12.00pm) in order to bag a table, so some help would be nice!

lol Smilo.

I'll see if I can make it - work commitments depending.

Yup, there's  other things to try in addition to beer - I'm a cider fan and steadily worked my way through the run on offer.

Well Friday would mean only needing to take 1 day off work and then not worrying so much if you have a bit of a fuzzy head of getting into work the next day. But yes earlier in the week would also mean greater variety and volume of beers on offer.

I would put up a Poll to see what people vote for and go from there but have no idea how to do it or if I even can :g:

I also will help with the get there early and grab a table plan. It also means I get to have lunch in the venue and for those who have not been before there is a vast choice of foods to accompany different types of beer along with tasting notes.
