Give them some credit though. They've managed to scrape together some of the most experienced people in the industry together under one roof. Let's give them some credit for that! Don't forget that while Chris Roberts is one of the most experienced faces on the industry and had been working on this type of thing for years. Let's just hope it's not wing commander the movie again!

Honestly, I am worried for SC. It has so much riding on it now, if it is less than incredible it will get ripped apart by reviewers and (most) of the fans...

To me that demo looked ok, but really did it look different to 10 other games I have seen? Nope... I mean if every planet just boils down to one little square and 3 shops you can go in... well its been done before. SC faces the challenge of being hyped up from day one, it has to maintain that momentum and then deliver on it, and that is a very tall order.

It's a game with space ships!
I see planetside stuff as a nice diversion.
The fact that you can interact with your ship and presumerably crew, during to the landing "cinematic" hasn't been done before AFAIK.

MY concern is that I've signed up to WingCommander single player followed by Privateer Multiplayer in the PU and we've hardly seen anything of the Squadron 42 stuff (ie Wing Commander).
But still, hands down, the best demo CIG have done to date is STILL the initial launch trailer. Everything they've done since is just fufff in my eyes. AAA fuff, but still fluff :)

The FPS stuff is the first element due out in 2015 according to the schedule posted and let's be honest, they probably need many elements of what they have already done for the single player (S42).

I don't think we'll see anything SQ42 related until it's actually ready for Episode 1 release.... Chris had said as much, at the end of the day it would all be spoilers a anyway and the actual assets that will be used we can see grow on a weekly basis anyway.

OP has been updated to show the cleaned up, lag-free 1080p version ... and it's stunning.

I do love watching this.  Not sure what the point is in seeing the Hornet getting repaired though.  Just cool I guess!

It does look very slick.
I've heard nay sayers complain "It' just another loading sequence while landing". This is true, but you can like do **** too! I think the only concern is will it get boring doing **** for the 100th time of landing and can I make tea?

Sure - just like the rest is "just a game".  If you don't suspend your disbelief then what's the point?  It's a pretty amazing loading screen that doesn't break immersion.  I like it.

Agreed, but besides that, from the demo and from what we've been told, if we are given the freedom to move around in multi crew ships whilst in the "on rails" EDL mode, then we can likely make good use of the time anyway, for instance in the demo i assume we could have gone and got in the Greycat ready to drive right out, etc... also when you look at the amount of traffic on Stanton (?) in that demo, can you imagine the death toll if human players were given the freedom to manual land in built up zones ?

Repaired, you say?

Hmmm...I thought it was being torn apart for reclamation so the parts could be sold off.

That would make more sense...
