I follow TotalBiscuit on youtube because I enjoy his reviews and in some rants he had earlier this year he said that he was unhappy with the way the games medias were functioning, how they seemed to pander to the developers with writing stories where they sounded more like commercials for games than reviews.
And then #GamerGate happened and the narrative of this debate unfortunatly shifted to harassment and trolling..
i found this 1 hour 42 min long video provided me with a good look into the way that the editor in chief, Totillo, of Kotaku feels that games media should be and while he and TB shares most views on the topic they disagree on enough that there is a good debate going on.

A very good point that is made is that Games media today focuses to much on prerelease, talking about how great game X will be or how game Y will change the way we think about online gaming.
And they have no basis for it except that they have talked to this dev or this ceo, and I belive this is an important point.
I've heard it said over and over again that Battefield 4 is bad or unplayable, (this from you lot, as I've not played it one bit) and yet if we think back to before it was launched it was going to be amazing..

Hopefully the media will change, I for one will be reading Kotaku abit more atleast..
