With tongue ever so slightly in cheek, Chris Roberts today confirmed that S42 will be playable offline.   True story.

It's an apples vs oranges comparison anyway.
You don't get to play any of the PU parts offline which would equate to ED offline.

i always expected S42 to be a single player game.much like freelancer was.

Yep, S42 was promised that way and appears to be delivered that way.   Not all games can differentiate between their apples and oranges at the planning stage :P
