We''re organising yet another dMw trip to the Great British Beer Festival which this year is 11th - 15th August 2015 at Olympia London.

Tickets are not yet on sale, but will be shortly so it would be great to get another good list of sign ups for this always popular event!

This is last year's ticket prices:
Tickets - £10 (non-member) or £8 (CAMRA member). Includes a free program.

We'll post confirmed ticket prices in this thread once they are announced, but they should be similar to last year.

....and we've announced the meetup this early so that our international drinkers (you know who you are) can once again take advantage of the cheap beer prices in the UK to save some money by drinking with us in the UK!

We'll probably do the Friday again, meeting at lunchtime and then continuing onwards into the evening.    So if you fancy a few pints of fabulous real ale, speciality beers, ciders or perries, then please publicise your interest by posting in this thread your intention to meet up with other dastardly dMw Beer Drinkers!

:cheers::dmw::cheers:

....and for those interested in creating a week of it for a European Beer Tour, Gorion passed me details of this one in Malta in the preceding week!

Quote from: GorionWe also have our local beer festival (free entrance, free parking), and the price for alcohol here is dirt cheap (euro 1.32 for a bottle, and some places even sell half a liter for a euro).  Perhaps you might consider adding it to the thread for anyone interested in a beer tour, as the dates are really close.  The dates in between could be spent licking the sun, swimming, or touring historical locations which there's too many of.  Or more drinking.

We get all the local beers, plenty of the commercial foreign ones, and there's even a stand dedicated to UK ones.  There's usually a bunch of ciders too, but mostly the commercial bottled ones.

Last year's

From the current events page:
The Farsons Great Beer Festival, July 27th - August 5th, 2015At the Farsons Great Beer Festival in the small village of Ta’ Qali, it’s all about good music, good food and, of course, good beer. Several thousand visitors are expected to attend the free 10-day festival. The programme is filled with lots of entertainment and activities, and a large selection of bars offer food and drink. Numerous live performances featuring hot local musicians and bands can be enjoyed at the open-air stage

Plenty to do, eat, drink, and there's two stages, one is family friendly with softy songs, dancing, competitions and the like, and the other is the rock band/disco area with a couple of seconds walking distance from all the beer stalls.

Not sure about Malta, it's a bit far too go for a pint but work allowing I'm up for Olympia.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I will definitely be going to this again, excellent fun and beers to be had.

Last year we managed to try a randomly selected beer from 24 of the 28 beer stands and only stopped at 24 as they had called time. Some really good ales and porters tried with 1 or 2 questionable like the smokey bacon bitter which left a very odd and in my opinion a horrid after taste.

I still claim the black forest style stout we had 2 years ago is possibly the best tried so far.

Friday is also a good call as it means we have Saturday to nurse the hangover and look for fired breakfast rather than rush into the office.

I will try and make this one as I'm a bit closer now!

Rubbish, you have 6 months to prepare your gullet for the ritual abuse that is the festival.   Sort your diary man, for goodness sake!

I wish it was that easy Clearing and Confirmation starts around there and the prep has to be done there is no way out of it, as I am apparently the tech lead (heaven help us)  Also the summer is when we rip out everything the students have broken and replace it with new kit.

Really really tempted, but have a lot going on a few months before so will have to see 'what's in my wallet' closer to the time, so I'm a maybe :)

I'd be up for it again, think that week's okay, but will steer clear of the jellied eels and pickled eggs...

Toby, find some minions to do it. That or notify work you will be ill!
