How much did you get for your steering wheel BB out of interest?

Thanks TL.

Can you please give as an update about what we need to buy for the Community? I know the LAN switches are on their last legs for example....

Aye LAN switches are due to be replaced before the April LAN and we're currently in discussion about how to progress that issue.  Afaiaa that's the only major one-off expenditure due in the next 3-4 months, the rest is the usual hosting, licence renewals etc.

Thought i'd chip in.

The switches seemed fine to me the problem is the pc's such as vista and xp not recognizing each other on the work group. The past two lans its been an issue. Direct ip access has worked but i think we need to come up with a solution to the problem or a workaround. The speed across the network for me at least seems adequate as the most traffic is usually at night time when lots of people have gone to bed anyway.

If you want to rewrite how Microsoft networking operates then feel free. However, because everyone will have different workgroups/domain entries on their PCs it is always going to be an issue.

The last few LANs we have had an increasing number of dead ports cropping up, some of the switches have literally been DOA at the next LAN when they worked fine at the last LAN and the managed switches are running unknown configs which are probably conflicting.  In addition, some of the switches will not talk to each other (making uplinking difficult) and the typical server ping has been steadily climbing and was at 20-30ms last LAN which is way over what we should experience, file transfers allowing of course.  Moving to gigabit switches from the same brand should allow us to experience a greatly improved level of connectivity and far more resilience.

Ghosty, I think we pretty much decided at the last LAN that we're going to replace the switches when funds allowed

You've spent enough time helping me set up the LAN to realise we're constantly swapping them out to get the thing working. :flirty:

Last LAN was a nightmare and frankly I'm not spending another day and a half trying to get one half of the room to see the other half

Got a 2924 lying around if you want it. Hasn't been used for about 3 years.....found it in my garage gathering dust.  No better or worse than you have, but dMw can have it if they want it....
