Sheepy appears and begins to stroke my head. According to his slurred drunken speech I am "lovely and like a fuzzy felt". Thankfully he soon leaves and passes out somewhere. [/quote]

I'm sorry but the idea of Tom Cruise playing a samauri was enough to put me off this. They could at least had a japanese or chinese actor playing the part.

I think you'll find that if it was a japanese or chinese actor the story of him being an american mercenary wouldn't really have worked...

Well if hes an american mercenary hes not the last samauri is he. Which is what the title and trailers are implying.

Who's implying that HE is the last samurai? That is just your assumption ;)

I agree though i fancied the film but not with weedy boy Tom Cruise in it.... i will wait for it on DVD.

ChimpBoy

Dont agree with you there smitey - I find Cruise to be consistently watchable and he has an acting talent that is overshadowed simply because he's the poster boy for Hollywood.

Look at that track record (yeah there's a couple of duds but what leading man didn't have them) and it's fair to say that in terms of purely commercially-orientated films Cruise is by far and away (with Tom Hanks) the most consistent actor out there.

I'm not sure about the weedy bit either - he's buffed ;)

Empire just gave it five out of five, and I believe the title refers to the dying age of Bushido (the code of honour for the samurai) as Japan moved into a period of Westernisation, thereby killing off the ways of the Samurai.

Bit like "Last of the Mohicans" in that respect I think
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better

Aaah i see where your coming from ....like the last of the english...there banging their car plants all over our land...Bstrds

(I work for Toyota :( )

As for Cruise.. personal preference, but im not going to comment on how buff he may or may not be... i like ladies :D

Tom hanks is a good actor.
