Wednesday Night is Overwatch Night!

What does this mean?

Well, as we are playing Overwatch matchmaking on a fairly regular basis right now, Wednesday nights will be devoted to Custom Games. There will be semi-organised customs running from 19:45-22:00, with a mixture of Vanilla and Custom settings (think of an all out Winston brawl).

The same ethos applies to these nights as it does general matchmaking. Teamwork is the name of the game. The more 'comical' custom games will no doubt sometimes involve 1 big TS channel and less 'focus', but otherwise we will still be using different TS channels for the teams. There may be room to mix this up later, using in-game comms, but for now these seem pretty borked in custom games so we are sticking to TS.

If we have >12 but <24 people, the extras will be asked to sit out of the custom game for 1 match (2 rounds) before being rotated in. In these cases I will sit out myself, and randomly name the other spectators, in the interest of fairness. Those spectating are more than welcome to hop into matchmaking and join us as soon as their next round ends.

Re: Matchmaking - if customs are simply not your thing and you would prefer to stick to matchmaking, go ahead! You absolutely do not have to join these to be a 'dMw Overwatch-er'. That said there will probably be some matchmaking played towards the end of the evenings, and Friday has become our 'second' and matchmaking focussed night where there should be admins on sorting out teams / groups to help things run smoothly.

If there IS something you want to see done on these or other organised nights, post it up on the forums or let me know!

Finally, balance. we will try to keep the teams as balanced as possible, and will move players around as necessary to try to achieve this. A badly unbalanced game can quickly become an exercise in frustration for the losing team, and although I would encourage teams to try to mix up their characters to overcome obstacles when something isn't working, sometimes experience/ability at the game can make this a particularly difficult thing to do. We don't care how good (or not) you are as a particular character or indeed at the game at all, we just want everyone to enjoy their gaming time.

I work shifts so my night availability changes. But im on most days/nights that i can get on.

Games so far have been fun, and great to see as many in the community now playing this game.

Okay it seems no one has put forward any ideas of what i was aware of so why not try to get people by playing as different classes that poeple wouldn't normally.

First idea - war of the brothers one team hanzo and one team genji short and simple

Second idea - only one class, so simply either attacker, defenders, tanks or support . we can only pick characters from one of these classes. so we could have a big support against support game and see how it goes and same for the other classes.

These my only two i can think off but will talk to you all tomorrow as i indeed to be there to get some overwatch time with you lot

I will be setting up a custom game from 19:45, kick off at 20:00 if we have enough. If we don't have 12 players, at 20:00 we will head into matchmaking instead.

Add me for the easiest invite to the custom games - if you don't have me added you will need to have someone already in the lobby invite you!

RE: Comms, we can try using in-game comms next Wednesday - last time we tried it was fairly borked, but am happy to give it another go - if we do this we will all have to try to keep tactical speak to the game comms and banter only in TS!!!
