I love the enthusiasm and teamwork needed to come up with this sort of community content and then the devs actually listen and bring it into the game.

Of course it still has the age old Elite theme, 99% non-linear story and requires a hell of a lot of imagination. This is the sort of thing I would love our community to be doing in Elite, but it gives very little tangible reward although the sense of accomplishment is huge. It requires effort to acquire the funds to get the right ship to embark on a journey like this, so preparation is important. And you can't come back, i.e. you have to self-destruct to respawn at the last station you were docked.

I think even following Kaii's route would be awesome fun.
