Server Changes

During the day the planned upgrades have taken place and BlackAdder is now running on Windows.

Steam has been reinstalled and the game servers are live.

The forum skin has been changed to use a lower overhead version to minimise any performance hit on the game servers.

BlackAdder now runs two NICs and the game traffic has been separated from the forum and website traffic.

Please feed back any bugs or problems.

I think we all owe you guys a big vote of thanks for your hard work both leading up to this (coz you cannot do this without planning it in advance) and on the day. Well done peeps. Many thanks and I for one appreciate your efforts.

OK Feedback as requested :

1. Quite a few of the smileys are AWOL
2. the homepage is still down
3. My avatar got crushed

but I'm still impressed with all the changes in 1 day

Played on the hook this evening and it didn't crash once! Better than normal ping, although it didn't stop me playing like a prat(t)! I'll now see idf my vatar has gone AWOL. Good job chaps. It's a bitch having to do a reconstruction job.

Homepage will come up when we have uploaded the files. This should be up by tomorrow morning-ish.

Smileys we are aware of and will work on.

Don't take the complaints too seriously - it's all petty stuff that'll get picked up I'm sure. I am still well impressed at the amount of changes you guys have managed to put together in a day.

actually, this skin is the only thing I have to comment on. It's too 'Fisher Price' for my liking. The other was a lot easier on the eye.

I agree with you G, but it was also a *lot* heavier on cpu/bandwidth overhead, hence the change.

We are trying to look for something both easy on the eye *and* low overhead, but you'll have to bear with us on that one. The forums move a heck of a sight faster with this skin than the old one though!
