not sure why they still need to sell ships at this kind of price at this stage in development, unless you are literally paying for the development of it to be put into the game.

Thoughts? Sure this isn't the first or last post of this type, sorry if its old hat.

Development is ongoing, and we're probably still a good couple of years away from the full release, so yes they still need to raise funds to pay for that development.

Ships will continue to be sold like this when they come into 'concept', and are the cheapest they will ever be for real money. The price will increase when they go on sale again as being flight ready, and if they're a limited ship, then it's likely that the price will increase further.  The idea being that if a particular ship takes your fancy and you don't want to wait until it's available in game, then buying it early will give you the best value for money.

ive seen quite a few posts where people have been comparing the price of the Eclipse with other ships like the Retaliator, questioning why it is more expensive, and my thoughts on that is that the earlier ships were under-priced, and those who bought them have probably had a bargain. A case in point is the Starfarer: it grew massively in size and complexity, and the price has gone up significantly, meaning those who backed early got a bargain.  The same will be true to with the Merchantman: iit's rumoured to be at least double its original concepted size!

I love the look and role of this Eclipse: all the fire power of a Retaliator, but with inbuilt stealth technology and single seater to boot, it's a rapid deployment stealth torpedo boat, and with the wing tips folded, moo oops like it might actually fit into a Polaris...

At this rate I will be an old man by the time this game is ready for me.

Lol. Some of us already are old men! :D

3.0 should be out soon - hopefully by August - and that will be the start of the game proper as we will have persistence and most of the required game systems in place (at least version 1 of them, anyway).

The ship looks nice, they sent an ultra level mail back on Thursday but I can't be spending more money on the game at this point.

Already spent way too much on something that has not materialised as a "complete" game.
