OK all, a few things about the LAN PC.

First of all I believe it was struggling in May. I got the PC back over the weekend and fired it up to see what was up... turns out a stick of RAM died at some point, and I suspect you were gaming on 4GB. This may have been the problem.

Now, second, with that said the PC could do with an upgrade. I put it together as a fairly budget conscious build as we did not know how well the whole set up would go down. I think fair to say it has gone well! So, this is what we have right now -

CPU - 3.5 Ghz Dual Core from AMD (A6-7400K) on an FM2+ motherboard.
8 GB DDR3 1600 C9.
GTX 780.
1TB HDD.

Pesteh has very kindly sent me 8GB of DDR3 to replace what died, so we are sorted there. Gortex thinks he has a 970 that he is also very kindly happy to donate to the build, which is a nice upgrade off of that ageing 780. That leaves us with the CPU/Mobo, and HDD.

Now, IF any members have old hardware lying around that they want to donate to the community, that may be one way to upgrade the machine. Ideally we are looking for a decent quad core CPU and motherboard, and an SSD (at least 256GB). With what we have donated between us so far (the entire machine), I think this is worth asking!

Please do not feel compelled to donate anything, this is entirely optional.

If that doesn't happen, we may use a small amount of community funds to upgrade the machine. I think with around £150 we could grab a quad core cpu (albeit keeping with the somewhat naff FM2+ socket) and an SSD for the build.

So either way we will give the machine a bit of love before October. Drop me a PM if you have something you'd be keen to donate, and thanks again to those that have done so already :yahoo:
