Fellow GLs and Council members,

I think its long past time we stopped supporting ED in dMw. I thought it better to raise this now rather than waste time at the LAN. The game, whilst very engaging for some simply doesn't tick enough boxes to survive in dMw because of it's lack of teaming up (at least until the latest patch) and the damage has been done. It's also far too community driven in terms of content and the formula is just wrong for our community.  I dont believe we have the energy to try again with the new updates and wing missions.

I think part of the problem is the effort in learning and setup of controls. Every time we try it again the learning curve is steep. It suits the flight sim folks out there but not many others. I will state an obvious risk, the learning curve in Star Citizen is steeper and we have a hell of a lot more invested in that game. I hope the community can be convinced to put more effort into SC long term than the 50+ members who bought into Elite.

Back to my original topic, Elite should no longer be a supported game. Please discuss and feedback.

Cheers,

Albert

Hi Albert,

I think you're right. You've obviously given this a lot of thought and your post hits it right on the head.

I (we) think you've done a cracking job leading this game and have successfully pulled it back from the brink several times but long-term it's not a runner. Thanks SO much for all the hard work and effort you've put into this game.

Do you want to post up that we're going to unsupport it or shall I? Be nicer coming from you then we can thank you publicly.

I agree with Pen, you've done a great job of trying to keep the game afloat. Your level of effort and commitment has been a great support to the community, it's what dMw needs. I'll buy you a beer or two in Ghent I'm sure, as a personal thumbs up :D

A shame there hasn't been more uptake. Hit the nail on the head with the control learning curve. Every time you post I find myself itching to jump back on for a spell, but in reality I know that spell wouldn't be long lived, my love affair with the game is fleeting. You raise a good point about Star Citizen, it will require similar efforts from its team to keep it afloat long term, I'm sure.

Yes I'll post the news. Thanks guys.

A little late to the party here but I agree with you Albert.   I think you've done an amazing job with it given the difficulties with the release schedule and late feature updates etc, so my thanks and admiration to you for a job well done in very trying circumstances.

If I take away one learning from being a GL it would be a hell of a lot of effort is required to make a game survive the long haul. Hat's off to those GLs who are still running games like CS and Overwatch and Ark after years.

From a player point of view "pro-activity" is essential in games like Elite and probably SC in the future. Folks cannot just hop on and off if they plan to really make a contribution to an alliance or org as prep work both in your own setup if you are a pilot or organising missions are frustrating to oversee if too many people turn up and say "what do I do now"? Pro-activity!
