Good day campers, I did the update today and to my surprise, 150 fps in my hangar on 2560x1440. 55-60 fps on 4K.

The mouse movement was rock solid, not sliding around or lag to speak of on 1440p, a little lag on 4K but I didn't even optimize the graphics so far.

New character creation, new hud etc. So far so good.

I've enjoyed the bits I've done. Seems to be some desynchronization issues between players and ships. You can't leave the seat while flying, as doing so will put the craft into a spin or change speed and direction. Usually you end up stopping though.

All in all its a lot more stable than previous builds, which says they're going in the right direction.

Found this brute waiting for me on pad C00, couldn't fit it on my screen from any angle around the landing pad. 5 floors, elevator to get around, couldn't find the cockpit, so went to bed.

The PU part is still quite rough. FPS was about 20 around that Reclaimer but got up over 50 on 2560x1440 on a 1080Ti. So not exactly fun to play. Fell out the elevator and to the ground a few times.

The hangar is amazingly well optimised so I would hope they put a bit of that code into the PU when it actually becomes persistent in v4.

It's all server communications code that's causing issues. There's too much happening on each 'tick'. So with all the physical calculations, transactions, ai etc etc.... Plus the overhead of all the players, it's going to be tricky. I've a feeling they're going to have to sacrifice some of their 'server dominant' approach and offload some of this onto the clients. Flip side of that of course is cheating.

Installed from fresh, crashed within 5/10 seconds after it's loaded. deleted user folder etc, no go. uninstalled, my 970 obviously ain't good enough yet.

I've no idea what's caused that but even with my 290x I managed to connect ok. The 970 is fairly comparable, so I don't think it's the card. Clean install or not, was it possible there were some left over config files besides the user stuff?

I know how it sounds, but did you grab the new launcher? If you're using the old launcher it will still install as normal but it wont be the delta patcher which is the current one, but its been available since 3.0 so I'm just thinking of everything here, I hope you get on Jamoe! We've had some actual success in game which is hard to believe..

There's a pagefile issue that is pretty well known to cause crashes. Login to rsi and then go to this link for several tips on how to avoid crashes. The default Windows 10 pagefile seems to be around 5GB. This gets easily used up and overwritten in SC. They recommend 24GB or higher on the drive where the game is installed. (Only if you have less than 16GB of ram is states but it does not harm if you have enough SSD space to try this).

This would make sense. Chances are they use a pretty high RAM spec to build/develop with. Likely means it would cause issues if it was less. I've got 16gb  ram and a fixed page file size (twice my physical memory)

Also you need to consider that actually changing the graphics settings has near zero effect on the fps. I can run in 4K Very High settings only 1-2 fps lower than 2560x1440 in Low. In the hangar it shoots up to over 60fps on very high 4K. CPU is above 60% (4.5GHz i7-4790K) normally and RAM consumption about 10GB.

Good news but first thanks for the tips.

Did the page file thing, also realised my SSD had 3 gig of space, found 60G worth of fortnite recordings Samuel had made :lmfao:

Removed the Nvidia 3d Vision stuff and disabled some of the xbox app things.

Game now doesn't crash so hurrah. Probably a few more things to try but that seems to have help loads.
