Hi Gents.

This is probably an obvious question but I would just like a quick reality check.

I have a few ships and I'm looking to exchange (or melt?) one or two of them to buy a MISC Prospector to give mining a little bit of a change of pace.  I'm not looking to keep the MISC Prospector so at some point I'd probably look to melt it and reclaim my ships later.  Is that how the exchange (or melt) and buy back works or am I missing something obvious?

I know game packages can only be transferred once. Full stop. I'm not sure about multiple gifting of cash bought ships. This might be something to ask the conceierge. I've a feeling it might be the same.

That said, buy backs work a bit differently. You can melt anything but packages that were super special offers or that contained physical items can't be bought back after melting (and some can't be melted in the first place).

Otherwise, if you're using store credit, you get a token that will allow a single buy back using store credit. You can buy back as many as you like using cash I think.

So if I'm correct my buy back option is limited to the "deals" that are available at the time of the buy back.  ie. If I have a Buccaneer with LTI and then melt it, when I opt to buy it back the But is likely to come with 6 months insurance, not LTI as originally purchased?

No. You should get the same product level you bought in at. At the tlaame price.

Hopefully I've helped. I do feel like I should maybe put a disclaimer though.

I'm pretty sure I have a Rear Admiral Package melted but still available to unmelt and gift, it's a package with the game, ship physical things.

Aye. I can imagine there are one or two limitations to those very early accounts/packages that are different from the newer ones.

I accidentally did something silly with my account a while ago and conceierge quickly reverted the change. I don't think they're there to be harsh with you. Perhaps drop them a line but be straight with them.

Be aware that although you can buy back with store credit, you can only do so with a buy back token, and these are limited to just one per quarter, and they expire (use it or lose it).
