I think there's more to the story than that, they've just afforded the bro's at Studio Wildcard, since it was a sister studio that started Dev on Atlas, this is the letter from the the dudes over at WildCard aka Ark, This post  Now onto more pressing matters...

For those looking for even more info, before Dec 13 PCG has a huge interview up with the main dudes, I'd love to hear some of your thoughts, but lets face it I'm excited out of my mind for a new IP by these guys, and will be there on the 13th regardless lol.

There are plenty points of interest in that interview.

I may well go for this one. What could be as compelling as a world full of Dinosaurs? A world full of pirates!

I'm wary of the PvP and would really only look to play on a PvE world. I like the idea of survival, crafting, ship building and adventuring/exploring. I'm not so keen on watching my hard earned ships sink to the bottom of the sea at the hands of a bunch of ten year olds with too much time on their hands and a love of causing mayhem.

It could be a very decent game if we get together and work to build in a Conan, Minecraft, Ark way.

Does this mean we can self host?

QuotePowerful Mod and Server Functionalities

Want to build a World War II Spitfire? Or a Flying Fortress bomber with fully walkable interior and gun stations, carrying troops loaded with machine guns and rocket launchers? How about a Tank? An Aircraft Carrier to play out the Battle of Midway on an expansive scale? How about an Arcadian Steampunk Airship floating through a cloud-world? These examples and much more are provided with the ATLAS Dev Kit, where you can make effectively create whatever large-scale MMO action game you want to see happen, all supported by the database-driven network technology that powers ATLAS. Unofficial ATLAS' can be of any size and configuration, while a visual map tool lets server hosts layout their own complete custom world of islands, continents, terrain features, spawns, resources, hazards, underwater zones, dynamic weather, biome configurations, ecology, and an infinite number of other configurable features -- all dynamically streamed to the client during gameplay. The possibilities are endless!

I'm not sure if it would be more fun in our own world or mixing with others on a full PvE server?

Dont carve out your calendar just yet like I did! Delayed for 6 days as per this message:
QuoteAhoy!

After thinking carefully over the past several days, we've decided to delay the ATLAS launch until December 19th to give the team more time to run through this massive game's extensive content.

It's a vast virtual world out there across the ATLAS, and the team's going to use that extra time to review every portion of it thoroughly. We're sorry about the delay, and we know how much everyone is looking forward to establishing their empires!

The team here at Grapeshot is so excited to bring this new world to life with you, and we know it's going to be an absolute blast. So please keep your powder dry a little bit longer, and at long last next Wednesday the 19th, we'll be joining you on the most excellent adventure of our lifetimes!

See you on the ATLAS soon Pathfinders,
Jat, Jeremy, and Jesse

I'm guessing the sheer size / systems has affected how fast people can "just check everything" :roflmao:

I think it'll be under £30 bro? Doesn't matter since I'll likely just get the Legendary Black Sailers Ultra Mega Mega Pack for some ridiculous premium.... :roflmao:

I'll be honest, it looks like a bit of a mess to me. I'll wait to see what first impressions are like. As with Ark, I'd really only be interested if this presents a compelling PvE experience.
