Help required Please

Have reloaded Steam after I couldn't get the weapon to switch from left to right handed.............Steam powered up and guess what??............can't change from left to right handed??  :rant:


So far have tried the following

Have tried every possible combination of switching from right to left and back again, exiting and re-entering but all to no avail.

Have looked in config but cl_"righthanded" 1 is right there


Suggestions please??

There is an option in the in-game GUI to do it as well.

Uninstall Steam and re-download it at the busiest time of day. If you're getting more than 60mbs then hang up and try again. Reformat your hard-drive and reinstall Windows. Re-install Steam. Change from left to right handed. Job done! Hope this helps.  :whistle:

Done all of that Ron and it worked a treat.....your'e a star!!         .........now unfortunately the HDD is now left handed....how do I go about getting that changed to righthanded.

So far have tried turning it back to front but the wires wouldn't reach that way round and uninstalling the gfx card and using a piece of silverfoil but that made the monitor ambidextrous and the speakers single channel, so I took out the CPU, which seemed to work for a while but it clearly wasn't right because the monitor went blank. Then I thought if I took out the memory the game wouldn't remember that it was left handed and would let me use righthanded, but for some reason it didn't even remember that the game was loaded??

plugging all the bits into the TV seemed the next best thing but it buggered up Sky and I then had to use the remote left handed as well, but the programmes were then appearing on the pc, which surely can't be right because I have all the bits in the telly??!!.

Can't use Mrs_Dingo's pc because she IS left handed and Steam installs right handed model on that which she clearly can't make use of?!!


NOW, to make myself really clear, not only have I tried every combination, including in game GUI (advanced mode no less), but the cl_righthand "1" is there (righthanded\cackhanded?, is there a difference?) so the SIMPLE and OBVIOUS I have tried.......so what I really need is an EXPERT on these matters to ensure I can get a righthand model as I can't possibly throw grenades with my left hand!!

It could be down to the buy script you are using somtimes they put in these little extra bits in. Have a look in there see if they give u an option

It could possibly be down to custom player/wep model type so bang in default stuff

Thats all i can think of at the moment  :unsure:

Have you tried turning the monitor through 180 degrees and viewing it using a mirror?  I believe you may have a post 1997 monitor from eastern europe and AFAAIA they were *all* left-handed.

Either that or use the Console>Options>Advanced menu and select 'righthand' from the list

Thanks for the replies but I should add that

a/  The nearest I come to a "buyscript" at the moment is the shopping list Mrs_ Dingo gives me on a Friday for Tesco's

b\  Custom\wep models are to the best of my knowledge either seen on Page 3
 of a Daily newspaper or topshelf brown paper books from that little shop around the corner

d\  Console>Options>Advanced menu and select 'righthand' from the list has been adressed as per my last post under "We know your'e an idiot, but even you can try this at home"!!



So far I haven't tried

1\  Importing Vietcong models into Steam as they all are "righthand" models

2\ Asking Smite to do me a cl_righthand "1" spray

3\ Buying multiple smoke grenades so that no-one will notice my lefthand only model

4\  Kicking the S**t out of the pc


Any further suggestions or ideas would be much appreciated (ie) Should I have two config files (one for Steam instructions and one for personal use?, what's the Mr Blobby file do, where is it and should it be deleted would that help? or moving to a new Town and hope the problem goes away?  :blink:

Here is a link to a search I did on the steam forums using "right handed" as the search criteria. Link here.

Lots of info there with lots of things to try. Suggestions include setting it to left handed and then back to right. typing cl_righthand 1 in console even though it might already be set to 1 (I think this had to be done in game by the way).

Hopefully one of the links on the search page will have the answer you need?

If everything else goes wrong, just send me your PC. I wont garantee that you'll receive it back.

For the rest I'd use the online game, then options and see if you can change it and the set cl_righthand 1 just to be sure.

If you use that command then it stays on the left hand.

You have to use this command:  cl_righthand 0

to get it to your right hand.

(type it in your console while you are playing)

that should do it.

Play left handed, that'll fix it.....
