Does anyone have any experience of video editing software? Or even sofware which will allow you to move still images around.

Looking to replicate something like this where still images are used to move with text overlay.

Thanks!

I'm sure there will be better offerings but I came across https://obsproject.com which might suit your needs. Seems to do some kind of scrolling on elements. https://obsproject.com/wiki/Filters-Guide#scroll

I understand it to be one of the go to tools for youtubers.

And it's free :)

Edit: Ok, doesn't seem to be decent for editing, ignore me :)

Adobe Premiere Pro is excellent but the learning curve is steep to get the best results.
I used Sony Vegas Pro for the old DMR raiding videos, much simpler and it worked in a much more intuitive way.  They also do a simpler and cheaper version called Movie Editor (iirc).
In terms of bang for the buck I thought Sony was excellent.

Hope this helps somewhat!

Way back when I was a covert surveillance specialist :eyebrow: I used Shotcut. It's a free open source video editor and we used to use it to annotate video with captions and highlights. As it's free it might be worth a look even if it turms out to to be quite what you're looking for.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I use Adobe Premier and it can do those sort of effects no prob, but it isn't cheap or easy to learn.

I recently discovered a free, fully featured, video editing program called DaVinci Resolve https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/  It's growing in popularity and seems to be fairly highly regarded. I plan on transitioning to this from my old Premier.  It's great to see such powerful software that can challenge the industry standard apps being available for free, much like Blender 3D.

DaVinci resolve should be able to achieve what your after, but the learning curve could be tricky.

My 16 year old not particularly techy daughter used VSDC Free to edit the video evidence for some of her GCSE stuff.
Resolve was the other option we were looking at but I think the learning curve for that was a bit steeper.

I've used Resolve as well. It's a powerful piece of software and should do exactly what you want, as mentioned. Also as mentioned is is not easy to pick up and was a bit more than I was willing to try to get my head around, hence going with Shotcut

Thanks guys.

I do have Premiere Pro as part of an Adobe Subscription but it's a steep learning curve.

It's not editing video I want to do but make still images into video. The movement comes from zooming in or out of the image before transitioning.

Really don't need to do anything flashy, so will have a look at the options posted.

Thanks!

Adobe has a plug in that does just that Pen.

OK thanks. Please shout if you remember what it's called.

There's Adobe Spark but I'm not sure the text can be animated?

Circling back to this

this, for example of what I mean about moving around a still image.

If anyone can help me work this out on Premiere Pro, I'll happily pay for their time.

This is from Shotcut, I don't have Adobe Premier as part of my Adobe subscription, so have never used it. I'm guessing the process is similar? I could write something up about the process?
