The original Dune is now on Netflix if anyone wants to catch it for free. It's quite subjective but for me it's not aged well. The special effects, by today's comparison, are bad enough to be jarring and make it hard to watch.

I have memories of being amazed at the sight of a giant Worm devouring a spice harvester. Watching again it looks like a glove puppet eating a toy car. Again just a personal view. The fine actors, compeling story and great dialogue are all still there as I remember them.

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.

I watched the original a couple of months back and 100% agree with you Smilo...I need to make time to see this in the cinema or at the least a big noisy screen somewhere. I loved the memory of the sandworms more than the reality when I rewatched.

Books on offer here if anyone want's it.....

Bought the original on Amazon Prime Video a few months ago just before watching the new one.
The original was difficult to watch, I also remember it being far better the first time round. Which interestingly was a back to back Electronics class at school (teacher was a big fan).

Just read through the first trilogy of books and started the second..... it is has now gone very weird.

The new film is sticking very close to the books.
