What do I think? Short version, buy one. Read on

I take a lot of notes, the nature of my job means most of my time is meetings; 121s, board meetings, management meetings, customer meetings, tech meetings. On top of that in my personal life I like lists, I write a bit, I doodle. I go through a lot of notebooks. I also have a thing where I start a new notebook as a challenge to be neat and organised and it ultimately descends into carnage. Scribbles, underlines and yes, the odd knob.

Onto the ReMarkable. It has replaced all of that, the writing experience is exceptional, it feels natural. It's pressure and angle sensitive, so shading works, there is allowance for folders and subfolders so work can be separated and in general organisation is clean, with a supporting app (android for me) and a PC webapp, so I can drag, drop and move to my hearts content.

The text conversion is ok, but I don't use it, and I don't think for that reason it's worth the subscription. What has been useful is annotation. I can send a pdf to it, scribble on it and send it straight back. One of my challenges is that I try to do other peoples work, so I'd normally correct someone's presentation or doc, with this I can scribble like a keen teacher and they can learn rather than just be corrected.

You can cut and paste using a freeform 'magic wand tool' so you can delete a line, wand the next one and drag it up, or between pages or workbooks. Add in the rubber feature - other end of the pencil and off you go.

It's small and portable and I now have it with me permanently.

The Positives
The writing experience
The variation of pen types
Annotating documents
Organisation
Cross platform management

The Negatives
Subscription -  I know it's the state of the world, but it's unnecessary albeit reasonable.
Package - I didn't buy the pen and bought an aftermarket pen and case, which I like, but it should come all in
Magazines - I read a lot....magazine rendering isn't responsive enough.

Much obliged - thank you sir! MY use case is very similar to yours, and we are returning to face to face next week, and people don't seem to like it when I'm tapping away as I'm talking, so might have to try and find room for it in my next paycheque

You're welcome, if you're in London at all and want a play, you're more than welcome over a coffee/pint somewhere.

Gutted, went to buy one this month and prices are back up to £399 so taking a rain check and hoping for an offer in future...
