What should I charge for this lot?

I have more than 75 movie discs that I want to sell as a job lot. I know the market for these is rapidly shrinking but I'm hoping that, if I price it right, someone will buy them all to add to their collection or maybe sell them on individually to make some money themselves - something I simply can't be bothered to do myself.

So? What do people think I should charge?

Easiest options would be post to Gumtree/Facebook market place/eBay with a finger in the air value of £100-£120 and hope someone local would want to pick them up. If you had to post them out, I imagine it would cost ~£20 and that's additional time and effort. There are some good movies in there but people are likely to already own them and they go on sale fairly frequently so can be had individually quite cheap.

The other option is to take them to a CEX/local pawn brokers and take whatever they will give you and you'd get them all gone in 1 go.

Or, if you aren't really attached to them or the ~£100 (minus any shipping if you had to), take them to a local charity shop and let them deal with selling them?

Depends how much you value your time and effort. Dealing with time wasters on market places is so frustrating that sometimes I just can't be bothered and will just donate items.

I can't edit my damn post again.

Anyway, even though there a lot of films here, if someone were to buy them in order to turn a profit at all that's a lot of work trying to get rid of them so they aren't going to want to pay a lot.

I can’t say much but I did notice the Lord Of The Rings in there and then along could easily net £30+ it’s £50 on Amazon to get them all. Seems to be a film series that doesn’t drop in price much

OldBloke

Thanks both.

The idea I had was to charge a collect-only fee that would be low enough to attract a buyer. It's knowing/guessing what to charge is the problem.

£100 plus is too high IMHO.

Depends on how fast you want them to go really oldie. You could start at something like £150 or what ever you happy with and if you need to decrease it then so be. Also depends if you would sell off certain DVDs if asked ? Or is it a bundle or nothing ? Things like Facebook market place would be your friend but there is a high chance of people haggling.

If you think £100 is to high and you are really just looking for someone to come and collect them, I'd just take them to a charity shop and be done with it. Otherwise pick a number between 1-99 and and try your luck :D

I also have lots and lots of DVD sat in boxes in the loft with no likelihood of ever been watched again. I do wonder what to do with them all as it seems such a waste to me.

I ripped all the ones I wanted to keep to files. I used Makemkv because I wanted to keep the quality. I followed the guide linked below having purchased an internal Blu-ray drive flashed to allow the reading of 4K Blu-rays.

I agree it's all such a faff. Looking at fleabay for example and bulk DVDs shows they're not going for much sadly. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3490034.m570.l1313&_nkw=bulk+dvds&_sacat=0.

Perhaps just whack them on and see who bites. You've done the hard work by cataloguing them all! :)

They're certainly worth money. Personally I'd watch everyone of them again.

Ursula got shot of a load of CD's and some DVD's from https://www.musicmagpie.co.uk/entertainment/sell-dvds/

She didn't get much from each one but all together it paid for a slap up dinner for two. Entering each one took some time, but they have an app which reads the bar code straight off the box, so it's not as painful as it could be.

Failing that bring them to the LAN and I'll give them all to Ursula, she volunteers at Oxfam and would take the lot off your hands for £0.00

Whatever's gone wrong it's not my fault.
