Sound is our friend and foe as discussed here but we can also use it to buy some valuable time. If you as T pick up CT guns i.e. weapons that only CT can buy (TMP, Colt, Aug, Famas) you can fool the CT that you are not making the "right" sound when you fire your weapon. If the CT is round the corner he cannot be sure that it is a T or CT by just listening to the sound the gun makes when firing. The reaction is usually "ah it is a CT firing over there" before "hmm it could be a sneaky T though" which could be all the time you need to pick the CT off or get out of tough spot.

If you have time empty a dropped weapon of ammunition. This could be a tactical move as most players have autoswitch to best weapon selected. So when they go for the gun they will lose time switching back or dying while trying in the firefight.

Also dropping your own gun and grabbing someone elses is quicker than reloading if your in a heavy fire-fight / killing-spree, this is also more effective than pullling your pistol on that last remaing enemy!

I would never think that - cross-polination of weapons is so common that I think it becomes irrelevant after two rounds in a match, and not worth worrying about.  It's the general direction of gunfire you should be listening for, not what sound.
If I wanted you to understand I would have explained it better
