Buffalo Soldiers

Rented this on the off chance - turned out to be great fun.  Sort of like a mix between 3 Kings, Tigerland, Big Lebowski, and Fear and Loathing.

Joaquin Phoenix is outstanding as the lead, playing a clerk at a West German army base during the cold war, running a black market in anything he can get his hands on and dealing copious amounts of drugs to the base.  Ed Harris plays an incompetent commander (nice to see his play this - not his normal strong arm self), and Scott Glenn is fantastic as the new officer on base who cracks down on Phoenix.

There's a hilarious scene with a bunch of soldiers in a tank who get high and then proceed to drive through a sleepy German town, and another scene where military police and soldiers have a gun battle in a drug lab whilst stoned.  Laugh out loud funny  :lol:
