All of you non techs, remember this please..(all of you techs, just go along with me on this one)

Open a command prompt,

type ping -t //www.cisco.com
you should get reply from....etc etc

post back. It should confirm whether your connectivity is there.
if it works through thick and thin, stop the ping (cntl-C)

then try and obscure site - ping //www.arsemonkeys.com or something, see if it works. I get a lot of problems with DNS, if it says it cannot resolve it.....post results.

Download ping plotter And ping something like //www.cisco.com and post the results.

Ring up your isp and let them know whats going on so they can investigate the problem too.

Need to know if you were having problems whilst you were doing that ping. Ideally, run it when you have the problem.

You do anything that Benny tells you  :narnar:

Benny

Right, let's have a go on a fact hunt.

You say your internet drops out for 'new' pages, but during the problem your DNS still resolves.

Next test, when it's working, open a command prompt and type

telnet //www.cisco.com 80

you'll get a blank screen, type GET /url
you'll get some garbage.

repeat when it's down with a new site
