Map Rotation Order Problems

There has been mention on the main forum about the map rotation order and it getting itself out of synch.  Do we know why it does this yet?  Or why 'nextmap' can bring up two different answers?

JAS and MAD_ness mentioned today that Aztec kept repeating itself last night.
