Make sure that you log on steam early for any updates. Join on MeatHook and the CZ server respectively 30 minutes prior to match please.

errrm

when did we change the method of picking teams for matches ....granted I am on happy nights and am not available, but we have always stated that if you are available at least 15 minutes before the start of the match, are on the server/in irc, and have updated availability you will be considered (and especially if its your squads matchnight)

this post was posted 5 hours prior to the match starting and people already know who is to play ....so why even bother to change to available later on ?????

Seconded. My availability is almost always as "Maybe" because I genuinely do not know until maybe 30 mins before match time whether I can make it or not. To pre pick teams like this is crass and means I would never get a game because I cannot put avail because I might not be.

I am extremely pissed off!

Agreed however, i do beleive it is fair to choose in advance if it is a Delta match.

Well, if you (MAD_ness) change your availability for the zombie game you will get a slot. This still stands and you do not need to worry. The reason for me picking the teams early was/is this.

1. I had to go out and wasn't sure when I was coming back. By posting the squads early it would be easier for any SL other than me to get the teams sorted based on my pick AND the avail at the time. I came back earlier than I thought I would.

2. I picked the teams based on being avail or maybe. MAD_ness your were unavail at the time and I know that Smite and Squonk aren't avail and that is all of the zombies to pick from. Also I looked at the opposition that have won 24-0 in their match. Me and albert agreed that we should try and not get raped in this match and hence the team selection. We all want to avoid being in a 0-24 if possible.

3. Picking Delta squad is something that is entirely up to me. It is based on my feel of the skill level at the moment. Attendence on the hook and performance both in matches on the hook/cz server.
Today we have a really tough game against 12K and I have picked the best team based on "avail" and "maybe". This can still change but there are many players down as not available that I know will not change their avail for certain reasons.

4. Lately people have been "avail" according to the availpage and never shown up. Not even changed their avail or given us (the SLs) any reason to not showing up. By giving an indication of the teams for tonight hopefully people will show up OR respond to this thread saying that they can't make it. It is really irritating when the SLs need to go to public servers to hunt down players that are "avail".

I think you are missing the point Sadako. We have a system. Either follow it or start a discussion to have it changed; please don't start making up your own way of doing things without agreement.

If people say they are avail and then don't show then raise it with them directly. Don't do nothing until it gets you so annoyed that you have to do something like this.

B"Still very hacked off"B [/b]1. It is a Zombie match. Zombies will be first picked if available. The only one who this could effect was MAD_ness as I know Smite isn't playing atm.

2. Me and Albert are SL and 2iC. That means we pick the team. I also had a chat with TL to sort the teams as I knew there were a few players that could only attend one of the matches. Delta Squad was picked first and based on that team the Zombie squad was picked. We tried to let as many non-zombies play as possible.

3. The teams were preliminary and a guide for the SL if I weren't back on time for match start ...

4. I pick the Delta squad based on performance and attendance on our servers and in matches.

5. I cannot guarantee you or any non-zombie member a spot on the team just because you are down as "maybe". The team will be picked approx 15 minutes before match start. If you or any non zombie member weren't avail, in iRC or on any of our servers and they are out of the loop. Still the SL's have an idea of a team well before that. Today we knew there were logistics involved to get the teams sorted as well as me being away for a uncertain amount of time. It was just a precaution from my side and I am sorry you got mad. If this happens again I will be sure to add "preliminary teams" as they were.

My point is Sadako that at present the AGREED way is to be marked as avail and in hook or IRC (pref hook) before match start. If we are going to have a different method then it needs to be agreed by all concerned - that to me is the idea of community.

If the teams are preliminary then say so. Your post did not it state that these were preliminary teams for tonights match - it states that these are the teams! We are not mind readers - if you mean something say it.

I don't want a guaranteed slot and i do not see anyone here asking for one so i don't understand your point old chap

My reasons for knowing whether I am available are personal and are not for discussion here.

i didn't say or hint at SLs having an easy time. I know only too well how dificult it is to organise a lot of people on tight timescales. i again suggest that if people are saying avail and not turning up then address it with those people who are letting you down.

Mine as well. As I said in my previous post I am sorry that I didn't write preliminary as it was a preliminary. In the back of my head the team selection was not final. Next time (if it ever happens again) I will post it in the SLs only section, that way no one will have to worry or be informed in advance. Business as usual as it always has been.

Will do and as I said it was a mistake that it was interpreted that way as it wasn't intended that way.

Knowing this maybe a nicer tone in your reply along the lines "have the team selection being changed or are there any reasons for this" instead of being aggressive about it (my interpretation) would have helped the situation.

In my first reply I think I was clear enough that the teams weren't final and thought that that was enough to clear up the misunderstanding. I guess it wasn't.

Because Delta is meant to be the best we can offer (my understanding).

I do not expect to be in a Delta match as I do not believe my match play is anywhere near good enough.
