As there are more and more of us are coming under the spell of LFS, the use of Teamspeak has made me think that maybe the 'push to talk' facility should be used. With 6-7 people on all breathing, swearing, laughing, OMFGing at the same time, it can be a bit of a jumble. We're happy to do this in CS perhaps we could give it a go in TS. I have assigned 'Spacebar' as the button simply because it's the biggest one to hit!
Spacebar is 'reset car' as default in LFS so that will need re-assigning  :dummy:
Your thoughts please.

I'm easy. a bit  of background chat doesn't bother me. it's not like cs where you need. to here a pin drop. but if we every get 7 people on ts at the same time. it could become a bit noisy

Ill give it a go and see if i can set up a button on my wheel ....

Most of the time th its just a case if getting the mic sensitivity set so it will not pick up ambiant noise.... :D
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion

Scrub the spacebar idea. It doesn't work! Needs to be another key. I chose 'Alt' (it's close)

I can't actually see the problem.....

I only talk when i have something to say..if you can hear me breathing let me know and i will turn it down a notch.

So you don't love us enough to stop breathing then :D

I tend to think the ambiant noise can be anoying ....When we get a few people on we dont just get breathing but other noises .. Moving your mic / phones ringing / noise of the force feedback

Ill give it a go with push to talk and see how it feels. On the good side the bandwidth usage should go down (less lagg) and less offputing noises should help my lap times  :D

Looking at the software for the wheel it is possible to map a any key to any button on the wheel but i have had no joy at getting TeamSpeak to pick it up

Not actually a 'problem' per se. Just fine tuning. If it's not an advantage so be it. It is after all something that individuals set for themselves. If you don't like it don't do it. You're not the heavy breather anyway.  ;)

That means I would have to take my hand off the wheel
Me,I\'m just a lawnmower - you can tell me by the way I walk.

After some thought, this press to talk thing is really only good for folk that like to have speakers on. That way the rest of us don't have to listen to ourselves in feedback.  :winkiss:
