Well actually there should be an accent on the "e" of your "Touche" ;)  But then it's French so who cares if we massacre their language :)  They are French after all :)
Hmmmmmmm, a pedant might argue that your constant slagging of the French could be seen as racist. That the French aren't a usual source of bigotted comments doesn't detract from the fact that there is basically no difference between anti French comments and anti Jewish, Asian or West Indian ones. Had I made a similar comment about Pakistani's I'm sure my post would have been deleted and a chastising  PM send my way by an Admin.

As 'She who must be worshiped as a Goddess' is French Canadian  I'd be quite within my rights to kick off about it . However I'm an easy going chap and won't make a scene

 ;)  ;)  ;)

Only 'cause I'd kick your ass ;)

I'm with Doorman - It's my god-given right to lambast them as an Englishman ;)

All this, even after I'd changed my sig ;)

While I admit it was grossly off topic it does still raise the issue of why we can say "Damn smelly frogs, I hate them all" but not "Damn smelly paki's, I hate them all" irrespective of whether we mean it or not. Maybe it's because the French aren't a minority group that has been victimised for decades in this country. Who knows?

True, it is off topic, but my 2c on why I think it is:

1)  The French and English are largely the same on the basis of skin colour and religious makeup (gross generalisation, but largely holds true).  Therefore we have no political correctness issues here.

2)  We both, as nations, have a sense of post-colonial guilt over our oppression and subjugation of many, many nations in the "developing" world (horrible word, but you get my gist).  Therefore we perceive that it's ok to slag off Germans, Frenchies, Spaniards, Yanks, and Italians as they are are "perceived" equals (it's institutionalised in the way we teach our kids), but we dare not do it to any of the peoples we have conquered, such as folks from Asia, the Caribbean, Africa (and Scotland ;) I joke, I joke :) )

3)  We still have a sense of superiority over them after WW2 (rightly or wrongly) that is instilled in us as kids

4)  The genius of Peter Sellers has forever painted them in a comedic way :)

5)  Their women are so unbelievably hot   You never get some girl looking like Laetitia Casta down at my local :(

We also have the French to thank for the possible origin of that oh so British gesture the "V" sign. This supposedly originated from the French threatening to cut the first 2 fingers off any English bowmen they caught. At Agincourt all the Longbowmen waved the "V" at the French to show them they still had both fingers.

1: Oh perleeze!   :dribble:
2: The French feel guilt? I don't think so!
3: True, nothing wrong with that though.  :D
